Position: Welder

Schedule: Day Shift (Monday- Friday 6a-4:45p + Saturday 6a-12p) Night Shift (Monday- Friday 4p-2:45a)

Summary of Position

Under the supervision of the department supervisor, welders are responsible for joining, fabricating, and repairing metal components using various welding processes such as MIG, TIG, and stick welding. This role interprets blueprints, weld symbols, and technical drawings to produce highquality welds that meet engineering and safety specifications. Duties include setting up welding equipment, preparing materials, performing welds to required tolerances, inspecting finished work, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. Welders must follow all company, OSHA, and quality standards, demonstrate strong attention to detail, and work effectively both independently and as part of a team. They must have stamina, the ability to lift heavy loads, be able to concentrate on performing tasks and commit to safety rules.

Essential Functions

Daily roles include collaborating in a team-oriented environment with cross functional workers.

  • MIG and TIG weld small and large components
  • Assess welded surfaces, structures, and components to identify errors
  • Follow and enforce strict safety regulations such as wearing heat-resistant gloves, safety glasses, protective masks, and safety shoes
  • Monitor machinery for appropriate usage and temperature
  • Weld components in diverse positions (i.e., flat, vertical, and overhead positions)
  • Follow OSHA safety guidelines, and ITAR compliance
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills and Competencies

  • Certified in TIG and MIG welding
  • Ability to read weld notes
  • Ability to read blueprints in detail
  • Ability to identify and find specifications
  • Knowledge of geometric tolerances (understand and recognize all symbols)
  • Thorough understanding of general tolerances
  • Comprehend sections and views
  • Understand reference system
  • Ability to locate and read stock list on drawing
  • Ability to operate presses
  • Use of hand tools (drill motors, grinders, etc.)
  • Ability to saw, miter, and fit fabrications (fit and tack)
  • High School diploma or GED required
