Job description

Position Overview
Willbanks Metals, Inc. is hiringa skilled Sub Arc Welder to support production in our Welding Department. Thisrole is responsible for setting up and operating submerged arc weldingequipment to produce quality welds on plate, structural components, andfabricated assemblies. The ideal candidate is experienced, dependable,safety-focused, and ready to contribute immediately in a fast-paced fabricationenvironment.
What You Will Do
• Set up, operate, and monitor submerged arcwelding equipment to complete production welds per drawings and weldingprocedures.
• Interpret blueprints, weld symbols, processtravelers, and job requirements before welding begins.
• Select correct wire, flux, and machine settingsto achieve required weld quality and penetration.
• Perform fit-up support, tacking, and multi-passwelds on plate and fabricated components as needed.
• Inspect finished welds visually and with gauges,and complete repairs when required.
• Handle material safely using overhead cranes,forklifts, and rigging equipment.
• Maintain equipment, manage flux properly, andkeep the work area clean, organized, and safe.
What We Are Looking For
• Minimum 5 years of experience in submerged arcwelding or comparable heavy plate / structural welding work.
• Ability to read blueprints, weld symbols, andwelding procedures accurately.
• Working knowledge of SAW processes, weld qualityrequirements, joint preparation, and distortion control.
• Experience working in a fabrication, pressurevessel, or similar industrial welding environment.
• Strong measurement, shop math, and materialhandling skills.
• Dependable work history, strong safety habits,and commitment to quality and production schedules.
Compensation & Schedule
• Pay rate: $30.00 per hour.
• Non-exempt hourly position.
• Immediate hiring need; this position is expectedto be filled as soon as possible.
• Schedule and shift details will be discussedduring the hiring process.
Work Environment
• Industrial welding environment with exposure tohot work, sparks, fumes, moving equipment, and variable temperatures.
• Frequent standing, bending, reaching, climbing,and welding for extended periods.
