POSITION IS IN DECATUR - PLEASE DO NOT APPLY IF YOU CANNOT COMMUTE TO DECATUR

POSITION SUMMARY:


The Pipe Test Operator is responsible for performing a pressurized gas test to determine if leaks are present in welded joints of pipe.


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:


This is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and duties performed by employees of this class; employees may be assigned duties which are not listed below; reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. • System Testing: Conduct pressure test using Nitrogen/Hydrogen to a specified test pressure to detect leaks.


• Equipment Use: Set up and operate test equipment such as gaskets, flanges, gauges, couplings, rubber seal and nuts/bolts.


• Test Execution: Conduct pressure testing in accordance with the latest revision of instructions number INS127, Pressurized Inert Gas – Weld Leak Test.


• Defect Identification: Detect and document weld defects, leaks, or other deficiencies during testing.


• Documentation: Maintain accurate test records, including pressure logs and leak reports.


• Safety Adherence: Strictly follow safety protocols, including wearing proper PPE (safety glasses, gloves and safety shoes).


• Communication: Must have a working command of the English language and be able to communicate orally and in writing.


MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:


While the following tasks are necessary for the work of the department, they are not an essential part of the purpose of this position and may also be performed by other department members.


QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ability to perform essential duties.

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Prior pipe testing experience a plus.

• Proficiency in reading and following directions without deviation.

• Focused and pays attention to detail.

• Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship.
