Purpose of Job:
This position reports to the Weld Machine Supervisor, Weld Machine Manager and Plant Manager, and must be detail oriented, organized, dependable and accountable.
Minimum level of education / training required/certificates/licenses:
This position requires a General Educational Diploma (GED) or High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma. Vocational/Technical training of any sort is a plus.
Minimum experience required:
Computer proficient, ability to read and understand blueprints and geometry from computer aided design (CAD), communication and organized
Requirements:
Essential Responsibilities:
- Accurately constructs, develops, and troubleshoots machines, fixtures or poke-yokes and performs maintenance/repairs on them when needed.
- Professionally directs and/or assists machinists in the maintenance and/or repairs on machines, fixtures, or poke-yokes
- Adequately checks production parts in the welder during and following repairs, to ensure corrective action was effective, prior to submitting to inspectors.
- Successfully completes weld site logs and any additional required documentation.
- Proper completion of tasks on assigned work orders (to dos, engineering changes, etc) and preparation of equipment and documentation to complete production readiness.
- Adequately performs downtime analysis on assigned problem jobs, evaluates the condition of machines, fixtures, or poke-yokes, coordinates proposed changes with Weld Manager and Supervisor, and performs required changes or improvements to machines, fixtures, or poke-yokes to correct major downtime problems.
- Successfully updates all prints, material lists and spare section lists as changes are encountered and supports use of Kanban when implemented.
- Ability to correctly operate various tooling and welding equipment.
- Adequately machines fixtures or poke-yoke assembly/disassembly and reconstruction and can rework tips, pins, etc.
- Places work orders for spare sections needed in a timely manner.
- Willing to work other shifts as needed.
- Carefully reviews weekly efficiency reports, determines reasons for problem runs and implements and tracks corrective actions to be made to increase rates and reduce startup time.
- Willing to travel at last minute if needed.
- Professionally coordinates new fixtures between design, Computer Numerical Control (CNC), Launch, and Quality.
- Based on company needs a flexible work schedule and/or overtime is needed.
- Responsible for the Corrective Improvement form. Reviews and initiates fixes to prevent recurrence.
- Attends and participates in Design/Fixture reviews when scheduled.
- Participates in the new designs & builds of machines, fixtures, etc. that is being built by outside vendors. Also participates in the buy-off before released to BTD.
- Responsible for W/M tool crib. Organization, process flow, inventory, costing. Works directly with department manager/supervisor with this area.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for assigning, over-seeing and completion of projects from start to finish being performed by the W/M Machinist.
This position performs evaluations and institutes disciplinary action when needed to the W/M Machinist.

Environmental: Employee is responsible for complying and supporting any environmental policies and programs put in place by Batesville Tool and Die (BTD). Employee may not bring any environmentally hazardous substances or compounds into BTD and is always conscious of the impact on the environment. Support and adhere to Technical Specification (TS) and International Organization for Standardization (ISO) activities and procedures.

The employee is frequently required to walk, standing on concrete, climb stairs, sit, reach above shoulders, and talk/or hear. The employee occasionally is required to reach above shoulders, stoop, kneel, climb, crouch, bending, twisting, or crawl. The employee will also be required to frequently lift up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift up to 60 pounds. Weights above that will require a tool, forklift, cart table, or robot.
