Job description

Reports To:Sample Department SupervisorJob Summary:This position is responsible for the following:
  • Operate cutting equipment: Band saw, rotating knife saw and die press
  • Cut material to standard sample size; adjust as required
  • Maintain cut list schedule to sample inventory stock
  • Pull roll stock per the schedule
  • Load and Unload rolls as needed
  • Maintain organization of roll stock and shelves
  • Bagging cut samples properly following quality checks and requirements
  • Stocking sample inventory

 Qualifications:Must haves for this position:
  • Be able to read, write, and count correctly
  • Basic Math, English, use a tape measure, weight scale, and micrometer
  • Be able to follow both written and verbal work instruction
  • Have good communication skills
  • Be detail oriented
  • Be able to change tasks, prioritize, and re-prioritize frequently and able to follow-up on work tasks as needed in a timely manner
  • Be able to bend, twist, push, pull, and lift (Up to 50lbs; anything heavier than that should be a two-person lift)
  • Wear proper Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) when applicable
  • Must work in an uncontrolled temperature environment
  • Operate a pallet jack
Primary Duties:
  • Cut material into samples to keep shelves stocked
  • Responsible for communicating and assisting in the preventive and predictive maintenance of saw equipment
  • Perform other job functions as directed by supervisor
  • Quality check
  • Assist Sample Clerk’s when needed
Quality:
  • Adhere to material cut standards
  • Review material after first cuts to inspect for quality of material
Safety:
  • Must commit to creating a culture where partners are protecting partners- “You See Something, Say Something!”
  • Must comply with all company policies and procedures listed in the Leggett & Platt Employee Handbook
  • Report all incidents, accidents, and near-misses to your supervisor immediately
  • Assist in recognizing, responding, reporting, and eliminating hazards and assuring safety compliance
  • Must participate in:
    • On-the- Job (OJT) Training documentation
    • Use of CAR/PARs (Corrective / Preventative Actions)
    • Incident/Accident/Near-Miss Investigations to determine root cause
    • Use of required PPE
    • Participation in training events
    • Good housekeeping in the work area and entire company grounds
  • Must understand and commit to:
    • No personal cell phone use on the production floor; Active cell phone use does not go beyond breaks and lunches
    • No horseplay, yelling, or violence in the workplace
    • No eating or open drinks are allowed on the production floor
Environmental:
  • Commit to environmental preservation through:
    • Stormwater Pollution Prevention
    • Participation in recycling initiatives
    • Proper use of waste containers
    • Participation in training events
Requirements:You must be able to perform all job-related duties on or about: 90 days
