Job description

Summary: This position is responsible for working closely with the Sales Agronomists learning to make recommendations to customers regarding seed, crop nutrients, and crop protection products. This position will also provide operational support to the Agronomy Team.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Proficient computer skills with ability to learn other computer programs
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Must be able to multi-task, establish priorities, and meet deadlines
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Experience with SSI Agvance, Climate, SMS, and/or related experience
  • Knowledge of agronomic seed, chemical, and fertilizer product portfolios

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:
  • Valid driver's license
  • State of Illinois Commercial Applicator License required (training will be provided if necessary)

Qualifications:
  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Plant and Soil Science, or related field required
  • Previous experience within Ag Retail
  • Previous experience as a Custom Applicator
  • Interest in pursuing Certified Crop Advisor certification

Working Conditions:
Position operates in both an outdoor environment and an office environment. Requires sitting and standing for prolonged periods, working on a computer, and exposure to moving, mechanical parts, dusty conditions, high noise levels, chemicals, and internal and external temperature/weather conditions (from -20 to +100 degrees). Employee must be willing to work weekends, seasonal hours, holidays, and overtime if needed.
