Job description

St. Michael Poplar Springs Parish, located in Mount Airy, MD, seeks qualified candidates for a Custodian. The Custodian helps to oversee and perform routine maintenance of parish buildings and property. This position reports directly to the Facilities Manager and works collaboratively with other facilities staff. This is a part-time opening, scheduled for Weekends only, 8 am to 1 pm; working 10 weekly hours and non-benefit eligible.
Essential Functions
  • Cleans Church, parish office, community spaces, and mission buildings.
  • Sweeps, vacuums, mops, and waxes floors as needed.
  • Washes walls and windows, removes dust and debris as needed.
  • Select equipment and materials for cleaning, replenishes supplies in buildings as needed.
  • Removes trash from inside the buildings and from the grounds.
  • Performs minor maintenance tasks, such as replacing filters and bulbs.

Position Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have a valid Maryland driver's license with no more than 3 points.
  • Previous cleaning experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of safety standards for use of cleaning equipment and products preferred.

Pay Range: $16.00 - $16.50, Hourly
