Position Summary:

The Part-Time CDL Bus Driver safely transports students, faculty, and staff to and from athletic events, field trips, and other school-sponsored activities. This role supports the school’s mission by ensuring safe, timely, and courteous transportation while representing the school in a professional manner at all times.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate school buses in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Transport students and staff to athletic competitions, field trips, and special events.
  • Conduct required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
  • Maintain order and appropriate student behavior while on the bus.
  • Ensure proper use of seat belts and safety procedures (if applicable).
  • Maintain accurate trip logs and required documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with coaches, teachers, and school administrators regarding schedules and route changes.
  • Report maintenance concerns, incidents, or safety issues promptly.
  • Adhere to school policies, including student supervision and conduct standards.
  • Represent the school professionally at all times when interacting with students, families, and host organizations.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements (or ability to obtain).
  • Current Department of Transportation (DOT) medical certification.
  • Clean driving record with no major violations.
  • Ability to pass required background checks and drug/alcohol screening.
  • Prior experience driving a school bus or commercial vehicle preferred.
  • Strong commitment to student safety and customer service.
  • Ability to work evenings and occasional weekends. (athletic/special events).
