About Us:

Start to Finish Services provides advocacy and supportive services to adults with developmental disabilities. Our goal is to guide and empower the individuals we serve to lead more productive, positive, and fulfilling lives through individualized Independent Living Services (ILS). We meet each person where they are on their journey toward independence — helping them discover their strengths, build their skills, and gain the confidence to cross their own finish line.

About The Role:

The ILS Instructor works one-on-one with adults with developmental disabilities to help them build daily living skills and increase their independence. You'll provide individualized training and guidance tailored to each person's goals — empowering them to make informed, confident decisions about their lives.

We currently have both full-time and part-time openings. Please let us know which you're interested in when you apply. Spanish-speaking candidates are especially encouraged to apply.

What You'll do:

  • Provide individualized instruction in daily living skills: cooking, laundry, hygiene, shopping, menu planning, money management, transportation, and recreation
  • Support community integration through local programs, events, and recreational activities
  • Teach skills through hands-on demonstration, prompting, and step-by-step guidance
  • Provide safe, timely transportation to medical and dental appointments
  • Assist with housing searches and navigating community resources and benefits
  • Support healthy dietary and nutritional habits
  • Help individuals use public transportation and navigate the community safely
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation of all sessions
  • Collaborate with individuals, families, Regional Center Service Coordinators, and team members to implement each person's IPP goals
  • Build positive, professional, supportive relationships with the individuals we serve and their families

What You'll Need:

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • 1–2 years of direct care experience with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, OR an A.A. degree, OR 120 units toward a B.A. degree
  • Reliable personal vehicle for client transportation
  • Valid California driver's license, registration, and proof of insurance
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification
  • Ability to pass fingerprint clearance (Live Scan- FBI+DOJ), background check, and maintain a clean driving record
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • A compassionate commitment to supporting individuals with disabilities
  • Ability to walk, stand, stoop, bend, push, and lift up to 35 lbs
  • Basic computer literacy (documentation through software)

Preferred:

  • Bilingual in Spanish
  • Prior experience working with interdisciplinary teams, families, and service coordinators

Work Setting:

  • In the homes of the individuals we serve and in community settings
  • May include some evenings or weekends depending on individual needs
  • Moderate physical activity, including walking and occasional lifting

Pre- Employment Requirements:

All offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of a background check, DMV/Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check, medical screening, and Live Scan fingerprint clearance.
