Weekend Yoga Instructor information

What does a weekend yoga instructor do?

A Weekend Yoga Instructor leads yoga classes, typically on Saturdays and Sundays, for individuals or groups. Their responsibilities include planning and guiding yoga sessions, demonstrating poses, ensuring participant safety, and providing modifications for different skill levels. They may also offer relaxation and breathing techniques, foster a positive class environment, and sometimes handle administrative tasks like scheduling or client communication. Weekend Yoga Instructors often work at yoga studios, gyms, community centers, or may offer online classes.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a weekend yoga instructor, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Weekend Yoga Instructor, you need a solid understanding of yoga techniques, anatomy, and instructional methods, usually supported by a recognized yoga teacher training certification (such as RYT 200). Familiarity with tools like scheduling software and knowledge of safe practice guidelines are also important. Strong communication, adaptability, and motivational skills help create a positive and inclusive class environment. These abilities ensure safe, engaging, and effective sessions that foster student growth and satisfaction.

What are some common challenges faced by weekend yoga instructors, and how can they be managed?

Weekend yoga instructors often encounter challenges such as managing diverse student skill levels in a single class, balancing personal schedules with weekend commitments, and maintaining high energy throughout multiple sessions. To address these, successful instructors prepare adaptable lesson plans, communicate openly with students about modifications, and prioritize self-care to avoid burnout. Building strong rapport with students and collaborating with other instructors can also foster a supportive environment and enhance class experiences.

Are weekend yoga instructors in high demand?

Weekend yoga instructors are generally in steady demand, especially in urban areas with active fitness communities. Opportunities often depend on location, certifications, and the ability to teach popular classes during weekends when many clients are available.

S&T expanded the brand in June 2025 with a new concept studio, Reformd - the world's largest-capacity Lagree studio, and will be bringing a fourth location in Toronto's prestigious Yorkville neighbourhood in 2026. S&T was the recipient of the 2023 Mariana Tek Lasting Community Award, 2023 ClassPass Best Studio Award, and the Mariana Tek Best of Boutique Fitness Awards for 2024 and 2025, recognizing the highest studio attendance and commitment to innovation and excellence.

About the opportunity:

Ride instructors at S&T do more than teach classes - they create experiences that challenge, inspire, and connect people through movement. As a Ride instructor, you'll lead immersive, music-driven classes that combine intentional programming, expert coaching, and authentic connection. Every ride is an opportunity to help guests build confidence, discover what they're capable of, and leave feeling stronger than when they arrived.

We're looking for instructors who care deeply about their craft and are excited to continue developing it. You'll be part of a collaborative team that values excellence, feedback, creativity, and continuous growth.

If you're passionate about delivering world-class experiences while helping shape one of Canada's leading fitness communities, we'd love to hear from you.

Primary responsibilities:
  • Deliver world-class fitness experiences that emphasize entertainment, experience, and community-building
  • Develop class programming, playlists, and signature elements that allow your own unique approach and practice to shine while working within the framework of the S&T brand and standards of excellence
  • Motivate, inspire and build relationships with guests as well as fellow team members
  • Promote, design, and theme classes to maximize attendance and experience
  • Live the S&T brand values and lead by example: sweat the details, push the boudnaries, be relentless in finding a way, stay in it together and invest in our community
  • Participate in promotional events, photo/video shoots, and brand initiatives
  • Act as a Sweat and Tonic ambassador, both in and out of class
About you:
  • You have a passion for fitness, wellness, and inspiring others through movement
  • You have significant experience delivering ride classes that prioritize both fitness and the experience
  • You have strong musicality - you can hear the beat, move with it and help others do the same
  • You bring a performance mindset, with experience in dance, theatre, sports, or other performance-based disciplines
  • You have taught or instructed groups in the past and thrive on connecting with a room
  • You bring energy, drive and a commitment to continuous growth as an industry-leading instructor
  • You are confident in your ability to receive feedback, remain coachable, and adapt to new challenges
Requirements & expectations:
  • Availability to teach a minimum of 3 weekly classes
  • Availability that includes either early mornings, evenings, or weekend afternoons
  • Substituting classes when needed
  • Flexibility to teach at all of our Toronto locations
  • Participation in studio events, shoots, and promotional opportunities
  • Ongoing team development workshops and communication
Qualifications:
  • 2 - 5 years of experience coaching in group fitness studios or personal training
  • 1 - 3 years teaching indoor cycling classes
  • CPR/AED Certification
  • Additional ride, fitness, and/or personal training certifications
Compensation:
  • $75 - $150 per class (base rate + attendance bonus)
  • $95 - $170 per class (+$20 base rate + attendance bonus): High-performing Ride instructors who also teach exclusively at S&T and teach at least 10 classes/week may qualify for the S&T Exclusivity Program
Other benefits:
  • Unlimited S&T membership for you and a loved one
  • 50% off at The S&T Shop
  • 20% off at Tonic Bar
  • 20% off same-day services at Tonic Spa
  • Access to discounts at up to 5,000 retailers across Canada
  • Up to $2,500 in tuition reimbursement annually
