Job description

This position is set aside for people with a disability. Documented proof of disability is required prior to the interview. This position is Part-Time and it's located in Suitland, MD The core working hours are 8:00am to 12:00 pm, M-F The hourly wage is $25.53 This position requires that the employee must successfully complete criminal history information background check, and drug screening and be able to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.

INTRODUCTION Under the supervision of the immediate supervisor, the Refuse Worker is responsible for litter pick up at the assigned areas in the scope of the contract. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

*1. Picks up litter along roads, sidewalks, plaza areas, steps and all other designated areas according to contract specifications.

*2. Empties designated trashcans.

*3. Performs variety of laboring duties within contract specifications.

*4. Follows all safety policies, including site safety regulations, roadside safety procedures, and emergency plans.

*5. Follows proper emergency procedures.

*6. Completes all mandatory trainings.

*7. Performs other duties as assigned. 

QUALIFICATIONS

The incumbent must be able to stand 80% of the work time and sit 20%, must be able to lift/carry 50 lbs. and push/pull 50 lbs. These requirements are necessary in order to complete contract work, inspect work areas and use and operate contract equipment. He/she must be able to climb, stoop, kneel and reach. Must be able to speak to communicate with supervisors, staff, co-workers, etc. Must possess good vision and hearing. Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions.

One (1) year of experience in the field of contract work (e.g. custodial, grounds maintenance, etc.) is preferred.

High School diploma and prior experience with individuals with differing abilities desirable or equivalent combination of experience and education.

Must be able to work flexible hours, weekends and holidays.
