Job Description
$14.73/Hour Starting Wage
*Due to the upcoming minimum wage increase at MSU, the starting rate for this position will be $16 effective 8/9/26. Those hired prior to 8/9/26 will be brought to the new minimum.
This position is located at River Trail Dining: Gallery at Snyder, Thrive at Owen, and the Vista at Shaw.
Under the supervision of on-shift full-time team members, a part-time dining service worker will help Culinary Services achieve its mission of Delivering Outstanding Spartan Experiences by providing exceptional customer service to our residents and guests.
Able to be assigned to any of the following duties:
- Trucking/serving at food stations
- Maintaining salad, beverage, and dessert stations
- Working in the dish room
Duties may be reassigned during the course of the shift, depending upon operational needs.
Coordination of work schedules, assigned work, and reporting to work assignments will vary when working at the dining halls.
During your shift, you may be responsible for performing tasks as assigned by full-time team members who work in the area to which you've been assigned.

Required Qualifications
• Must be able to work at least two shifts during the week and one shift every weekend.
• Demonstrated commitment to outstanding customer service.
• Must be able to complete tasks in a timely manner with minimal supervision.
• Must be positive and respectful, especially when working with a diverse population.
  • Must be available to work Lunch shift from 10am-3:30pm.

Preferred Qualifications
Previous food service experience is preferred but is not required.

Work Hours
  • This is a part-time position
  • You will be scheduled for weekend shifts with the same shift on each weekend.
  • You may not exceed the maximum hours as defined by MSU Employment guidelines.
  • The Gallery at Snyder-Phillips, The Vista at Shaw, and Thrive at Owen are all part of the same Culinary Neighborhood. You may be scheduled at one or multiple locations based on operational needs. We will do our best to honor preferences!
