Job description

Electromechanical Build Specialist

At Space Age Electronics Inc., you’ll help transform designs into dependable products that protect people and places. Join a Production/Manufacturing team that values precision, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Department: Production/Manufacturing
Reports to: Production Manager (or designee)
Position Type: Full-time

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Why this role matters

Every assembly you complete and test contributes to the reliability of life-safety technology in the field. Your craftsmanship, documentation discipline, and eye for nonconformances help us ship quality on time—every time.

How you’ll contribute
  • Build electronic products/subassemblies using hand tools and fixtures (screwdrivers, torque tools, crimpers, cutters, strippers).
  • Perform wiring, cable prep, and connector install to spec; route and dress wires to workmanship standards.
  • Interpret work orders, BOMs, drawings, schematics (as applicable), and written instructions.
  • Execute in-process and final inspections; complete required documentation.
  • Use basic test gear—multimeters, continuity testers, power supplies—and record results.
  • Spot defects, segregate suspect material, and communicate with supervisors/quality.
  • Keep travelers, lot traceability, and time/quantity data accurate and current.
  • Maintain a 5S workspace—organized, clean, and stocked.
  • Adhere to safety, ESD, and company policies; take on other production tasks as needed.
Grow with us
  • Build foundations in IPC/J-STD workmanship and broaden soldering skill (through-hole/SMT).
  • Gain experience with harness/cable assembly, precision crimping, and rework/repair.
  • Work within ISO 9001 environments and leverage ERP/MRP and digital work instructions.
  • Cross-train on equipment and, where applicable, material handling (forklift/pallet jack).
What you bring
  • High school diploma or GED (or comparable education/experience).
  • 1+ year of manufacturing assembly; electronics background preferred.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and standardized workflows.
  • Hands-on mechanical aptitude; confident with common hand tools.
  • Reliable, repetitive execution with a quality-first mindset.
  • Math and measurement skills (rulers/calipers as needed).
  • Team-oriented with the ability to work independently in a fast pace.
  • Professional communication with peers and leadership.
  • Commitment to ESD, safety, and quality compliance.
Physical realities
  • Work on a production floor; frequent standing/sitting and fine motor tasks.
  • Lift/move 25–40 lbs as required.
  • Close visual work on small components (corrective lenses if needed).
  • PPE and ESD controls required; overtime may be required.
Technical strengths we appreciate
  • Electrical/electronic systems fundamentals
  • Mechanical assembly and machine builds
  • Soldering proficiency
  • Low-voltage cabling and equipment wiring/installation
  • Industrial electrical familiarity
  • Blueprint and schematic reading
  • High School / GED
