Job description

A&R Tire and Wheel, LLC is looking for a reliable and hardworking Tire and Wheel Technician to join our growing team in Modesto, California.

We mount and balance standard and custom wheels and tires, install TPMS sensors, repair tires, and perform lift-kit and leveling-kit installations. We are also expanding our services to include brake jobs.

You do not have to be an expert in every service. We are willing to train the right person and help them build their skills. However, applicants must have some basic automotive or tire-shop knowledge, be willing to learn, put in real effort, and follow instructions.

Responsibilities:

  • Mount, dismount, and balance standard and custom wheels and tires
  • Carefully handle custom wheels without scratching or damaging them
  • Install, replace, program, and reset TPMS sensors
  • Inspect tires for punctures, damage, uneven wear, and proper air pressure
  • Perform safe tire puncture repairs when the tire is repairable
  • Perform tire rotations and wheel installations
  • Install lift kits and leveling kits with supervision when necessary
  • Assist with suspension work and learn proper installation procedures
  • Perform or assist with brake jobs, including brake pads and rotors
  • Safely raise and lower cars and trucks using vehicle lifts and floor jacks
  • Drive and position customer vehicles carefully and responsibly
  • Tighten and torque lug nuts and suspension components to the correct specifications
  • Load, unload, move, and organize tires and wheels
  • Keep the work area, equipment, tools, and shop clean and organized
  • Clean, organize, restock, or assist other employees when there are no vehicles waiting
  • Properly use and care for tire machines, balancers, lifts, jacks, and shop tools
  • Protect customer vehicles and report any existing or accidental damage immediately
  • Follow all shop procedures and safety requirements
  • Complete work carefully and double-check that each job is finished correctly

What We Are Looking For:

  • Some tire-shop, automotive, suspension, or brake experience is preferred
  • We are willing to provide additional training to someone who wants to learn
  • Must be trustworthy, dependable, punctual, and responsible
  • Must report to scheduled shifts and communicate properly if an emergency occurs
  • No repeated call-outs, lateness, or no-call/no-shows
  • Must be willing to work hard and stay productive throughout the shift
  • Must be able to work independently and find productive tasks without constantly being told
  • Personal phone use must be limited while working, except during breaks or emergencies
  • Must be willing to work some weekends as we expand our operating schedule
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and drive customer vehicles responsibly
  • Must be able to regularly lift and move approximately 50–75 pounds
  • Must use team lifting or shop equipment for extremely heavy oversized wheels and tires
  • Must be able to work safely around lifted vehicles, tools, tires, and heavy equipment
  • Must respect customer vehicles, coworkers, tools, and company property
  • Must have a positive attitude and be willing to improve

This is a good opportunity for someone who already has basic tire or automotive experience and wants to build additional skills in custom wheels, suspension, lift kits, leveling kits, and brake work.

Pay is based on experience, skills, and qualifications. Work schedule and weekend availability will be discussed during the interview.

To apply, please submit your resume or a description of your previous tire-shop or automotive experience.
