Job Description

Helping Hearts USA LLC is seeking a highly dependable, nurturing, and attentive weekend nanny to support, in a structured and positive private-home environment.

This role is ideal for someone who genuinely enjoys working with children and understands the importance of consistency, patience, emotional support, safety awareness, and age-appropriate engagement.

The selected candidate will help create a calm, organized, and encouraging setting where the child can learn, play, follow a routine, and feel supported throughout the day. This position requires someone who can take initiative, remain professional, communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

The weekend nanny will provide hands-on, observant, and proactive support during the shift. Responsibilities include:

  • Provide attentive, nurturing supervision throughout the entire shift and keep the child safe at all times.

  • Support early learning through alphabet practice, number recognition, reading, educational games, and structured play.

  • Encourage curiosity, confidence, kindness, creativity, and age-appropriate independence.

  • Balance structured learning, free play, rest, meals, hygiene, and outdoor activities throughout the day.

  • Prepare lunch and dinner while keeping mealtime calm, safe, and consistent with family instructions.

  • Clean dishes, wipe counters, and reset the kitchen area after meals so the home remains tidy and organized.

  • Assist with bathing, hygiene routines, toileting support if needed, dressing, and general personal care with respect and patience.

  • Complete child-related laundry, including washing, drying, folding, and putting items away properly.

  • Keep the childโ€™s bedroom, play area, and commonly used spaces neat, clean, safe, and age-appropriate.

  • Plan and supervise safe outdoor play, park visits, walks, or approved community activities when appropriate.

  • Use positive reinforcement, gentle redirection, patience, and calm communication when supporting behavior.

  • Provide clear updates regarding the childโ€™s day, meals, activities, mood, behavior, routine changes, and any concerns.

Child Development and Engagement Expectations

The ideal nanny should be comfortable creating meaningful activities that support learning, social engagement, language development, confidence, and creativity.

This may include:

  • Reading time

  • Letter and number practice

  • Puzzles

  • Music

  • Art

  • Sensory play

  • Educational games

  • Outdoor play

  • Age-appropriate activities

The nanny should remain engaged, present, and intentional throughout the shift. This is not a passive supervision role. The child should feel comfortable, encouraged, safe, and supported.

Household Support Expectations

This position includes light household support directly related to the childโ€™s care and daily routine.

Responsibilities include:

  • Keeping the childโ€™s areas clean, organized, and ready for the family at the end of the shift.

  • Putting away laundry and supplies properly.

  • Cleaning up food, dishes, toys, clothing, and activity materials.

  • Helping maintain a calm, clean, and well-managed environment.

  • Taking initiative when appropriate without needing constant reminders.

Ideal Candidate

Helping Hearts is looking for someone who brings both heart and professionalism into the home.

The ideal candidate is:

  • Naturally patient, calm, nurturing, and compassionate.

  • Able to engage, connect with, and encourage children.

  • Experienced in childcare, daycare, early childhood education, tutoring, nannying, or child development.

  • Comfortable supporting routines, meals, hygiene, laundry, light cleaning, and activity planning.

  • Able to follow family-specific instructions while also using sound judgment and initiative.

  • Reliable with attendance, punctuality, and communication.

  • Comfortable working independently in a private home setting.

  • Flexible, respectful, and solution-focused when the day does not go exactly as planned.

Professional Qualities Required

Candidates must be able to demonstrate:

  • A positive attitude and warm, encouraging presence.

  • Professional appearance, clean hygiene, and respectful demeanor.

  • Self-motivation and the ability to complete responsibilities without constant reminders.

  • Initiative in keeping the child engaged, the environment organized, and the family updated.

  • Maturity, good judgment, emotional control, and personal accountability.

  • Respectful communication with the family, the child, and Helping Hearts leadership.

  • Understanding that professionalism includes appearance, tone, reliability, confidentiality, boundaries, and follow-through.

  • Pride in the quality of care provided and attention to small details.

Requirements

All candidates must meet Helping Hearts USA LLC placement and onboarding standards before beginning an assignment.

Requirements include:

  • Must be a non-smoker for this placement.

  • Must maintain appropriate boundaries and protect the privacy of the child and family.

  • Must promptly report schedule concerns, incidents, safety issues, concerns in the home, or changes in the childโ€™s condition, mood, behavior, or routine.

  • Must follow family-specific care instructions and any additional guidance provided by Helping Hearts or the responsible party.

  • Must be able to work in a home setting with respect for the familyโ€™s space, belongings, routines, and expectations.

Preferred Qualifications
