Job description

SUMMARY

This role involves physical work focusing on loading and unloading trucks, handling siding products safely, maintaining cleanliness, and supporting shipping operations.

MUST BE ABLE TO WORK DAY SHIFT (6AM TO 2PM) - MONDAY TO FRIDAY

Rate of pay: $22.48/hr

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Loading & unloading of trucks

  • Responsible for loading product onto truck

  • Ensure that the product is loaded properly i.e. the counts are correct and that there are two people handling one box - one on each end and with the box turned on its side

  • Use proper lifting techniques when handling/moving boxes of siding

  • Responsible for maintaining a safe and clean workplace i.e. all garbage is to be picked up as well as any wood to avoid any accidents with the forklifts

  • Sweeping warehouse, loading area and shipping office

  • Loading of all tautliners and flatbeds with the help of two other loaders

  • Responsible for opening and closing curtains on tautliner and applying straps around each crate

  • Ensure that the load is secure and that all steps have been taken to ensure the load will arrive safely at its destination

  • Responsible to break up crates of siding in order to hand bomb the product into van

  • Emptying garbage during shift

  • Must be able to pick a product and create a crate when necessary

  • Participate in mid and year-end inventory count if needed

  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including Health and Safety, as applicable

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Shipping Supervisor/ Manager

Education and Certifications:

  • Must have completed Grade 12 or equivalent

  • Must work in crating assembly department when required

  • Previous manufacturing experience is an asset but not a requirement

  • Forklift certification acquired through Company sponsored training program if required

  • Demonstrates ability to operate machinery safely and efficiently

  • Ability to complete reports accurately and legibly

  • Good communication skills

  • Team player, strong interpersonal skills
