Job Title: Warehouse Worker

Job Description

This role supports high-volume warehouse operations in a large, modern distribution facility by safely unloading, staging, packing, and loading products for a major logistics project. You will use material handling equipment, RF scanners, and computer systems to ensure accurate order fulfillment, inventory tracking, and timely shipment while maintaining a clean, organized, and safety-focused work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Unload inbound shipments safely and move products to the correct destination within the warehouse.
  • Efficiently stage, stack, and load merchandise in designated areas to support accurate order processing.
  • Move product from staging and unloading areas into the correct load door and assigned trailer.
  • Ensure trailers are properly secured and chocked before entering, in accordance with safety policies.
  • Load and unload products using appropriate material handling techniques to prevent damage and ensure safety.
  • Segregate, check, and stage inbound products accurately to support correct routing and storage.
  • Verify drivers, trailers, and bills of lading match the specific carrier and location before processing.
  • Count freight with drivers and ensure all required procedures and documentation are followed.
  • Load trailers for safe transit and ensure drivers sign all necessary paperwork prior to departure.
  • Perform labeling, sorting, wrapping, packing, and repacking of products as needed to complete orders.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area, including sweeping, organizing, and general housekeeping tasks.
  • Maintain an organized and orderly desk or workstation area, including mobile packing stations.
  • Operate a mobile individual workstation to pack orders, validate inventory counts, print labels, and communicate with drivers.
  • Build pallets, shrink wrap pallets, and use a pallet jack to organize and move completed orders.
  • Use RF scanners and computer systems to scan products in and out, track inventory, and update the warehouse management system.
  • Collaborate with team members and drivers to ensure timely, accurate, and customer-focused service.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support overall warehouse operations and customer service.

Essential Skills

  • Previous picking and packing experience, including selecting items based on pick slips or customer order forms.
  • Ability to use a computer or RF scanners to track inventory and process orders.
  • Experience scanning products in and out and updating inventory in a warehouse or distribution environment.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the shift.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and lift for the full duration of the shift.
  • Proficiency with basic material handling tasks such as loading, unloading, and staging freight.
  • Experience with general warehouse labor, including shipping and receiving activities.
  • Comfort working with RF scanners for order picking and warehouse inventory control.
  • Use of pallet jacks to move and organize pallets and completed orders.
  • Ownership of and willingness to wear steel-toed boots or shoes as part of required safety gear.

  • Good communication skills to coordinate with drivers, coworkers, and supervisors.
  • Commitment to following safety procedures and maintaining a clean, organized work area.

Work Environment

The role is based in a brand-new, 628,000 square foot, climate-controlled, well-lit, and extremely clean warehouse facility. The operation supports third-party logistics services across multiple transportation modes, including air, truck, and ocean, and serves diverse sectors such as automotive, aerospace, pharmaceutical, healthcare, consumer retail, and food and beverage. The site employs approximately 250 people across warehouse and office functions and maintains a highly client-focused culture that emphasizes going above and beyond for customers. You will work primarily on 2nd shift from about 3:30 PM to midnight, Monday through Friday, with an initial orientation and training day scheduled from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM. The work involves continuous standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds, and using equipment such as RF scanners, pallet jacks, and mobile workstations. The dress code includes wearing steel-toed boots or shoes and appropriate attire suitable for a warehouse environment, with a strong emphasis on safety and cleanliness throughout the facility.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Belleville, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
