Job description

COMPENSATION: Hourly - Competitive
EMPLOYMENT TYPE: part-time with the opportunity for full time

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Excellent customer service is the number one goal. The most important duty of Household Goods (HHG) drivers is to drive safely to and from their destination. Drivers are expected to help with the loading and unloading of household goods, keep logs of their activities and make sure their vehicles are maintained and in good working order. Accepting payment for services and handle other paperwork related to the delivery are also driver responsibilities.

JOB FUNCTIONS:

· Participate in ongoing training/testing and development.

· Perform pre-trip/post-trip inspections.

· Loading/unloading of material and equipment.

· Assist in packing/crating of personal effects needing protection for safe transport.

· Inventorying shipments

· Loading/ unloading of household goods into trucks/trailers.

· Cleaning of company equipment and property throughout the day.

· Comply with all policies found in the employee handbook as well as policies and/or procedures presented by management.

· Drive truck to and from designated destinations of up to 11 hours with and maximum of 14 hours total as dot rules allow.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

· High School diploma or equivalent preferred

· 1-2 yrs previous warehouse experience preferred

· Good communication, organizational, time management mathematical skills

· Dependable and Reliable

· Inventory, Equipment maintenance, data entry and computer skills may be required

· Must possess a valid commercial class A or B driver’s license with tankers and hazmat endorsements.

· Must have previous commercial driving experience, or have graduated from an accredited commercial driving school.

· Must have the ability to read and write English language. Perform simple mathematical calculations.

· Must have mental ability to handle receipts; read maps, road signs, maintain record of duty status, etc.

· Must have working knowledge of vehicle safety and control systems.

· Must have knowledge of dot regulations governing safe driving, hours of service, inspection and maintenance.

· Must meet or exceed the medical standards of the u.s. dept. Of transportation.

· Must satisfactorily pass a drug test.

· Must satisfactorily pass an alcohol test (if applicable)

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS: In order to perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty to company’s standards. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

· Must be able to communicate efficiently and effectively to both co-workers and customers alike.

· Must be able to listen and take instructions with regards to customer service.

· Drivers often deal with customers, applicants with initiative, who are neat, well-spoken, and courteous and work well with little supervision.

· A satisfactory driving record is usually required.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

· Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using both whole numbers and decimal points.

· The above skills must be used with regards to United States Dollars (US$) as well as weights and measures, volumes, and time.

REASONING SKILLS:

· Must be able to solve everyday problems, always looking for the best right answer.

· Must be able to interpret/understand/explain a variety of instructions. These instructions can/will come in multiple forms (written, oral, schedule, diagram)

· Must be able to read a map

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ABILITIES:

• Regularly lift and/or move objects 10-50lbs occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 100 lbs.

• Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl

• Occasionally required to sit and climb or balance

• Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust and focus, coordination

• Ability to work in varying temperatures, depending on the season
