Job description

This Southern Illinois organization is the most respected privately owned animal hospital - and is looking for exceptional veterinary technicians to join the team. Founded over 40 years ago and still led by the same veterinarian owner, this is a full-service hospital with general practice, surgery, emergency, and urgent care at the main location and two satellite clinics serving the Metro East region. Our vet techs are not support staff - they are the backbone of animal care. If you are a credentialed technician looking for a team that values your skills, offers real schedule flexibility, and operates with a culture of genuine collaboration, this is your next opportunity.

Position Highlights

  • Privately owned, non-corporate setting - autonomy matters here

  • Competitive compensation based on experience, certifications, and specialty skills

  • Schedule flexibility: rotating shifts at the main hospital or balanced work week at satellite locations

  • No weekends at satellite locations

  • Offering a great overall package with benefits

Practice Environment

  • Full-service main hospital: general practice, surgery, emergency, and urgent care - 24/7 operations

  • Two satellite locations focused on general practice and wellness, Monday through Friday

  • Team of 11 veterinarians and approximately 94 total staff

  • More than 100 years of combined veterinary experience across the team

  • Privately owned and independently operated for over 40 years

  • Collaborative, team-first culture with experienced mentors around you every day

Opportunity Details

  • Assist veterinarians during examinations, procedures, and surgeries

  • Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed

  • Collect and process lab samples including blood draws, urinalysis, and cytology

  • Monitor anesthesia and provide preoperative patient care

  • Operate diagnostic imaging equipment including radiography and ultrasound

  • Triage and assist with emergency and urgent care cases

  • Assist with dental procedures and prophylaxis

  • Educate and communicate with clients about care plans and home instructions

  • Maintain accurate and complete medical records

Compensation and Benefits

  • Competitive pay based on credentials, experience, and specialty skills

  • W2 full-time employment with full benefits package

  • Health, dental, vision, and professional coverage included

  • Generous PTO with flexibility built into scheduling

Candidate Requirements

  • Credentialed Veterinary Technician - CVT, LVT, or RVT - strongly preferred

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program

  • Licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of Illinois

  • Experience in general practice, emergency, or surgical settings a plus

  • Proficient in anesthesia monitoring, venipuncture, radiology, and patient care

  • New graduates from accredited programs encouraged to apply

  • Strong communicator with a team-first, patient-centered approach
