Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) – Neurology

$35.00–$48.00/hour (DOE) + $5.50/hour Shift Differential
$9,000 Sign-On Bonus for RVTs | $6,000 for Experienced Unlicensed Veterinary Assistants
Full-time opportunity in San Francisco, California
Schedule: Tuesday–Friday | Four 10-hour shifts | Day Shift | No Weekends
Some schedule flexibility, holiday coverage, and overtime may be required.

As a Neurology Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT), you'll work alongside board-certified veterinary specialists providing advanced anesthesia, diagnostic imaging, surgical nursing, and patient care for complex neurological and neurosurgical cases.

Our Neurology team manages complex neurological conditions using advanced diagnostic imaging, anesthesia, surgery, and specialized nursing care. You'll have the opportunity to strengthen your technical skills while working in an environment focused on mentorship, clinical excellence, and professional development.

In Your Day-to-Day, You Will

  • Provide advanced nursing care for Neurology and Neurosurgery patients throughout diagnostics, treatment, surgery, and recovery.
  • Administer and monitor anesthesia for MRI, CT, surgical procedures, and other advanced diagnostics.
  • Perform venipuncture, IV catheter placement, medication calculations and administration, CRIs, digital radiography, and patient monitoring.
  • Prepare patients for advanced imaging and procedures and provide comprehensive post-anesthesia recovery care.
  • Perform sterile surgical preparation and assist veterinarians during neurosurgical procedures.
  • Monitor ventilation, oxygenation, anesthetic depth, vital parameters, and patient status throughout procedures.
  • Maintain detailed medical and anesthesia records, including treatments, medications, procedures, and patient progress.
  • Assist veterinarians during appointments and provide compassionate client communication and education.
  • Collaborate with Neurology, Emergency & Critical Care, and other specialty teams to provide exceptional patient care.

What You Bring

  • Active California Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) license.
  • Minimum of two years of veterinary clinical experience.
  • Strong veterinary anesthesia and anesthetic monitoring experience required.
  • Proficiency with venipuncture, IV catheter placement, medication calculations, CRIs, and advanced patient monitoring.
  • Experience with MRI, CT, Neurology, Surgery, Emergency, ICU, or specialty veterinary medicine preferred.
  • MRI experience is preferred but not required.
  • Strong understanding of veterinary medical records, patient care, and anesthesia protocols.
  • Excellent communication, organization, critical-thinking, and client service skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in a fast-paced specialty hospital environment.
  • Collaborative, proactive approach to patient care and teamwork.

Compensation & Sign-On Bonus

  • Registered Veterinary Technician: $35.00–$48.00/hour, based on experience and skill set.
  • $9,000 Sign-On Bonus for RVTs.
  • $6,000 Sign-On Bonus for experienced Veterinary Assistants.
  • $5.50/hour shift differential for eligible hours worked between 6:00 PM and 6:00 AM.
