Job Description
Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) - Join Our Growing Surgical Team!
Whittaker Road Animal Clinic - Ypsilanti, MI
$24-$28/hour (based on experience)
$1,500 Sign-On Bonus for Qualified Candidates
Are you an LVT who loves surgery, anesthesia, and being part of a progressive veterinary team? Whittaker Road Animal Clinic is growing, and we are looking for a skilled Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our team and help us expand our advanced surgical services!
At Whittaker Road Animal Clinic, we are a progressive, AAHA-accredited small animal hospital dedicated to providing high-quality medicine while creating a supportive environment where our team can continue to learn and grow. We are a busy 4 doctor practice serving dogs and cats, with a strong focus on patient care, teamwork, and utilizing Fear Free/low-stress handling techniques.

Growing Surgical Department - We are expanding our surgical capabilities and looking for an LVT who is confident in anesthesia and enjoys surgical nursing. Our team is taking on more advanced procedures, including:

• Airway resections
• Orthopedic procedures
• Soft tissue surgery
• Soft palate resections
• Perineal urethrostomies (PU)
• Total Ear Canal Ablations (TECA-BO)
• Advanced soft tissue procedures

If surgery is your passion, there is an opportunity to spend more time in surgery while still enjoying a mix of technician appointments and patient care.
What You'll Do

• Provide high-quality nursing care for dogs and cats
• Monitor anesthesia and assist with advanced surgical procedures
• Prepare patients and surgical instruments
• Support diagnostics, treatments, and patient recovery
• Assist with workups and client communication
• Collaborate with veterinarians and a skilled technical team

• Monday-Friday schedule with once a month Saturdays
• Closed Sundays
• One doctor Saturday clinic approximately once a month (9 AM-2 PM)
• Flexible scheduling options:
  • 4 days/week (4/10 schedule)
  • 3.5-day work week options
  • Flexible days off based on team needs

Has surgical and anesthesia experience
Is comfortable monitoring patients under anesthesia

Your Impact as a Credentialed Veterinary Technician
Note: The Credentialed Veterinary Technician title is used in various states based on state-specific licensing and credentialing requirements. Responsibilities may vary depending on the hospital and/or state and will be outlined by the state's Veterinary Practice Act and/or the responsible veterinarian, where applicable.

• Utilize Your Full Skillset: You'll be a vital part of the medical team, providing comprehensive patient care, including administering treatments, monitoring anesthesia, and performing lab work.
• Be a Leader and Mentor: You'll guide and support the medical team, ensuring an efficient workflow while mentoring others to help them grow their skills and careers.
• Partner with Clients: You'll be a key point of contact for pet owners, educating them on treatments, reviewing medical records, and confidently answering their questions.
• Contribute to a Positive Culture: You'll play an active role in training, providing feedback, and maintaining the high standards of our hospital environment.

What You'll Bring to the Team

• Graduate of an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technician program.
• A current state veterinary technician license in good standing.
• Proficiency in a range of technical skills, including nursing, surgery, dental care, radiology, and laboratory procedures.
• A calm and efficient approach, especially in fast-paced or stressful situations.
• Strong communication skills and a passion for working collaboratively.
• One year of experience in the veterinary industry is preferred.
