Job description

★ Target Annual Compensation: $55,000 – $65,000+ • Top Performers: $80,000+ ★
Health, Safety, and Compliance keep the Permian Basin moving! When an employer’s substance abuse program falls short of DOT standards, operations stop — regardless of how skilled the labor or how advanced the equipment.
Patriot Safety and Services exist to ensure we deliver on what Employer-Clients SHOULD DEMAND. As one of the fastest-growing Third-Party Administrators (TPAs) operating under DOT 49 CFR Part 40 and FMCSA regulations, Patriot serves Energy, Transportation, and Occupational Health clients across the Permian Basin and United States. We are growing — and the Collection Specialist is out front as the "Face" of everything we do!

✓ Key Responsibilities

Perform on-site DOT and non-DOT drug, breath alcohol, and hair specimen collections across the Permian Basin (in-clinic in special circumstances)

Travel independently to field locations within assigned territory — you represent Patriot at every stop

Maintain flawless chain-of-custody (COC) and CCF documentation; operate both electronic systems and paper workflows with equal precision

Clean, maintain, and calibrate breath alcohol testing equipment; ensure full 24/7 operational readiness

Participate in after-hours and rotational weekend on-call for emergency testing services

• Serve as the professional face of Patriot with donors, HSE managers, DERs, safety teams, and employer-clients

• Perform in-clinic administrative support during downtime

• Communicate clearly with the operations and sales teams; escalate compliance issues and unusual collection circumstances promptly

• Participate in mentoring, job shadowing, and internal training initiatives as responsibilities expand with demonstrated performance

Compensation — Performance-Driven, Transparent

Patriot’s pay structure is built to reward Collectors who show up, stay sharp, and deliver. The base wage is your floor. Additional components reward performance, territory coverage, and availability. Exact rates are provided during the offer process.
✔ Base Hourly Rate

Competitive hourly wage (W2); rate commensurate with experience — provided at offer

✔ Training & Clinic Pay

Elevated pay rate applies during all initial training and any scheduled clinic support shifts — higher than base field rate

✔ Mileage Reimbursement

Above-standard rate per mile — exceeds the federal IRS reimbursement rate; every field mile is compensated

✔ Per-Test Compensation

Performance bonus per completed test — the more you collect, the more you earn

✔ After-Hours & Weekend

Premium pay for on-call rotations, weekend coverage, and emergency callouts outside scheduled hours

✔ Unscheduled Call-Out Pay

Additional flat compensation triggered by unscheduled dispatches — paid on top of all other applicable rates

✔ Expense Reimbursement

Travel and approved field expenses reimbursed per Company Travel Expense Protocols

The Right Candidate

We will train the right person. What we cannot train is character. Here is what matters most:

• Self-starter who operates independently in the field without requiring constant direction

• Exceptional attention to detail — federal chain-of-custody compliance is exacting and non-negotiable

• Comfortable managing both digital systems and paper documentation simultaneously, often under time suspense

• Professionally composed with all donors — including those who are nervous, reluctant, or uncooperative

• Reliable and reachable — this role serves 24/7 clients and on-call commitments are real

• Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred — the Permian Basin donor community is linguistically diverse

• High school diploma or equivalent required; healthcare, EMS, military, or field service background is a competitive advantage

• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

• Valid Texas driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle required (A truck or full-size SUV is required for this position.)

Certifications required (Patriot facilitates all of the following with PAID Training):

• DOT DAITA Certified Urine Specimen Collector —obtained within two (2) weeks of hire

• DOT DAITA Certified Evidential Breath Testing (EBT) — obtained within two (2) weeks of hire

• DAITA Hair Collection Certificate —obtained within thirty (30) days of hire

⚠ Honest Expectations — Read This Before You Apply

We respect your time. A clear picture now saves both of us from a mismatch later.

• Applicants must currently live in Midland or Odessa

• This is NOT a desk job. Field work, on-call weekends, and after-hours dispatches are core to the role — not exceptions

• The certification timeline is aggressive and non-negotiable: you will be actively training from Day 1

• Documentation precision is federal compliance. A chain-of-custody error can invalidate a test, create liability, and damage client relationships

• Company-sponsored group health benefits are not currently offered. Employees may independently elect and purchase medical, dental, and vision coverage through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas and/or AFLAC supplemental plans; Patriot will connect you with the appropriate resources

• Pre-employment drug test and background screening are required without exception — Patriot maintains zero tolerance

If this is the role you have been looking for — field independence, real earning potential, and credentials that build a career — we'd love to hear from you today!
