ABOUT THE ROLE

Topwater Roofing is hiring a Field Inspector to join our growing operations team. You'll be the credibility moment of every customer engagement: climb safely, diagnose roof condition accurately, document findings with precision, and deliver reports that drive confidence and sales downstream.

This is a field-based, truck-based role with 50/50 field and digital responsibilities. You work independently on inspections and get paid for the value you deliver. Monday–Friday standard schedule, with optional weekend opportunities during storm season.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: Safety × Qualify × Diagnose × Document

Safety First— Climb and inspect following Topwater's climbing safety certification protocol. Fall protection, harness/anchor verification, two-person protocols on high-pitch roofs, daily field logs, FAA Part 107 drone safety standards. Zero tolerance for unsafe cuts.

Qualify— Assess roof condition, distinguish storm damage from wear-and-tear, determine whether a secondary on-site inspection is needed, understand warranty scope and homeowner expectations.

Diagnose— Conduct physical roof inspections. Identify hail impacts, wind damage, soft metal deterioration, granule loss, soft spots, maintenance items, and secondary inspection triggers. Drone observation and participation included.

Document— Annotate drone photos to professional standards (clarity, vistas, full coverage of damage, annotation/marking, landscape/portrait orientation). Generate accurate RoofReports. Manage photo libraries. Upload to customer portal. Respond to customer follow-ups same-day via text, email, call, or portal with professional, expert tone.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Climbing experience required. Familiarity with heights, ropes, harnesses, and roof safety.
  • Ability to safely climb, work at heights, and carry equipment weighing 50–60 lbs while navigating steep pitches and seasonal conditions (heat, cold, wind).
  • Strong communication skills. You'll interact directly with customers and document findings clearly for internal teams and insurance carriers.
  • Attention to detail. Photo standards, report accuracy, and customer follow-up are non-negotiable.
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel 60–100 miles from Mooresville, NC.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • FAA Part 107 drone certification (not required; we'll provide at a determined time).
  • HAAG inspector certification.
  • Previous roofing, inspection, or estimating experience.
  • Sales or lead-generation background.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
  • Salary: $80,000–$100,000 OTE (on-target earnings)
  • Health Insurance
  • 401(k)
  • Cell Phone & Vehicle Allowance (company vehicle provided once onboarded)
  • Performance-based bonuses tied to quality, lead generation, and company profitability
TRAINING & GROWTH

You'll complete a 60-day onboarding program designed to get you to independent inspections quickly:

Weeks 1–2: Safety certification and field immersion. You'll shadow real inspections, learn the four inspection outcomes (good condition, maintenance, storm damage, secondary), photo standards, customer interaction, and RoofReport basics.

Weeks 3–4: Hands-on supervised inspections. Conduct physical roof assessments under the Operations Manager's oversight. Participate in drone operations. Learn RoofReport generation and written findings.

Weeks 5–6: Independent inspections with weekly check-ins. You'll operate solo while we validate photo standards, findings accuracy, customer communication, and report turnaround.

Success Metrics by Day 60:

  • All photos meet Topwater standards: clarity, specific vista points, full coverage of damage, professional annotation, proper orientation.
  • Reports delivered within 24–48 hours; shooting for same-day when possible.
