Amentum at GE Aerospace is seeking a Lead Crane Maintenance Technician V to join our 1st shift (6:30 am to 3pm) Industrial Maintenance Team in Lafayette, IN.


The position is responsible for acting as a subject matter expert in electrical/mechanical preventative maintenance, inspection, and repairs of overhead cranes, gantry systems, hoists and jibs.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs electrical/mechanical preventive maintenance, inspection and repairs of overhead cranes, gantry systems, hoists, and jibs per OSHA, ASME and CMAA standards.

  • Perform documentation of work performed on equipment in CMMS.

  • Operates aerial and platform lifts.

  • Reads and understands schematics, diagrams, and specifications.

  • Demonstrates solid understanding of Lock Out Tag Out practices and procedures.

  • Operates a PC with Microsoft Office Suite programs.

  • Performs preventive maintenance as scheduled in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

  • Responds and provides service and feedback to the customer on all work orders while assuring compliance with codes, regulations and industry standards.

  • Recommends measures to improve maintenance methods and equipment performance.

  • Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.

  • Operates various measuring, diagnostic and testing instruments to help provide energy efficiency solutions.

  • Operates a variety of equipment such as hand tools, laptop computers and diagnostic hardware to perform work.

  • Maintains a strict schedule to be successful in the assignment yet demonstrates flexibility in the day-to-day activities and scheduling for the benefit of the customer.

  • Exhibit strong leadership skills, such as motivation, delegation, ownership, leading by example, well-developed organizational skills, excellent communication skills

  • Identify and document cost savings

  • Develop and monitor work assignments for other technicians providing coaching as appropriate.

  • Assist in performing root cause analysis

  • Promotes and adheres to Amentum Safety Structure. Understands company policies and enforces safety regulations. Safely perform functions of the position including following proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis and lockout/tagout procedures wearing PPE as required.

  • Other duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor.


Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent.

  • 5-8 years of experience maintaining overhead cranes, gantry systems, hoists and jib hoists or related equipment industrial manufacturing environment or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Familiar with OSHA, ASME and CMAA Standards.

  • Must have the ability to work in an aerial lift or scissor lift at heights up to 50 feet.

  • Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.

  • This position may require a valid Driver's License.

  • This position will require the ability to obtain a security access badge at our client's location.

  • This position will require various shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules.

Physical Requirements in accordance with CMAA 78:

  • Have vision of at least 20/30 Snellen in one eye, and 20/50 Snellen in the other with or without corrective lenses and have normal depth perception, field of vision, hand-eye coordination, and no tendencies to dizziness or similar conditions.

  • Be able to hear, with or without hearing aid, adequately for a specific task.

  • Have sufficient strength, endurance, agility, coordination, manual dexterity and speed of reaction to meet the demands of the job.

  • No evidence of physical restrictions is not subject to seizures or loss of physical control, or emotional instability that could render a hazard to technicians or others.

  • Be capable of working at extended heights in a safe manner under varying environmental and adverse physical conditions.

  • Shall demonstrate proficiency to read and write English.

  • Shall demonstrate proficient in oral and written communication skills.

  • Shall be subject to other safety, drug, or other specific requirements as mandated by the OEM or Customer from time to time.

  • Shall adhere to OEM/or Customers health and safety guidelines.

  • Shall be able to distinguish colors, regardless of position of colors, if color differentiation is required for the task.

  • Requires the ability to regularly lift to 50 lbs.

  • Requires the ability to stretch/reach on a repetitive basis for shift.

  • Some tasks will require repetitive wrist movement.

  • Requires the ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress.

Special Requirements:

  • Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.

  • Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Note U.S. Citizen is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.

  • NFPA-70E training

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates degree or technical certification in crane/hoist, industrial mechanical, or related Facility Maintenance discipline.

  • Crane inspector certification/training.

  • Experience with root cause analysis

  • Experience with basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs.

  • Experience working in a CMMS environment.

Other Attributes:

  • Must be willing to work on-call rotation

  • Must be willing to work overtime when required.

  • May be required to work holidays and weekends.

Compensation Details:

$35.00 - $40.00
