Clerk Typist

Clerk typists perform clerical work involving the processing of documents and information requiring computer literacy. Clerical work is performed in accordance with standardized department procedures. Ability to meet deadlines is imperative. Clerk typists perform a variety of duties, including contact with other offices and/or the public to relay factual information or to explain simple procedures.

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

  • Processing substantial amount of case information accurately, in a timely manner, and in accordance to court rules.
  • Entering all complaints and citations filed by the police and the public into the statewide computer database.
  • Maintaining confidentiality on all matters.
  • Posting payments, issuing receipts, balancing money daily, and making bank deposits.
  • Managing payment plans and processing monthly bookkeeping reports and data, issuing and printing checks.
  • Logging events and transactions such as applications, telephone messages, hearing dates, and decisions on cases.
  • Performing receptionist duties by greeting visitors and directing them appropriately.
  • Preparing outgoing mail and processing incoming mail.
  • Keeping inventory of office supplies and making orders as necessary.
  • Performing other duties as directed by supervisor.

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities include:

Qualifications: Excellent communications skills, ability to work independently, strong organizational skills, and attention to detail. Computer and data entry experience.

Minimum education and experience: High School Diploma.
