The Communications Coordinator serves as an important member of the destination Communications team to support traditional media relations, social media content creation, drafting of hub stories, social media monitoring across multiple brands and destination clipping. With an eye for trends and a passion for social media, the role will lead content capture for hospitality brands and serve as a community manager. The position will also pitch media around destination storytelling and serve as a regular contributor to the Hershey, PA Story Hub.

Job Duties (Duties marked with an asterisk are essential functions of this job):
  • Lead content creation for hospitality social media pages involving photography and video editing*
  • Manage select Hershey Entertainment & Resorts (HE&R) brand profiles and programs, including the monitoring and response to mentions of our resort, spa and dining brands, with additional support for content creation for all brands across the destination as needed.*
  • Support measurement/analytics duties for select social media channels
  • Collaborate with the Communications team on media pitching, mining story ideas, media list development, media itineraries, etc.*
  • Write press materials including releases, alerts, pitches, etc.*
  • Draft original articles and content for the Hershey, PA Story Hub.*
  • Assist with influencer relations and help coordinate blogger visits
  • Become a subject matter expert for HE&R, focusing on the Resorts division and destination efforts.*
  • Attend relevant Ops and Marketing meetings on behalf of the team, as needed.*
  • Assist with on-property broadcasts, as needed (including early morning and weekend programs).
  • Media clipping and monitoring
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing or Related Field
  • Minimum of 1 year of related experience (internships considered)
  • Industry Experience - Hospitality/Tourism, Sales/Marketing/Public Relations/Journalism
  • Must have a valid driver's license

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Skilled in the use of Google Suite and Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word.
  • Experience in video editing and photography editing
  • Must have a strong working knowledge of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube).
  • Must be a strong writer and eager to pitch media outlets about Hershey.
  • Experience in the travel or entertainment industry is preferred, but not required.
  • Proficient in working with details on a daily basis for prolonged periods of time. Must be a team player, collaborative, creative, responsive, curious and eager to learn. Must be an independent problem solver.
