Job description

Hilton Marco Island Beach Resort and Spa is currently seeking a dynamic National Sales Manager to join the best team on Marco Island!

POSITION PURPOSE:

Ensure all revenue and activity goals and are achieved or exceeded through solicitation, direct and indirect sales, qualifying existing and new business, and maintaining database information. Works closely with the conference services department to maximize revenues for future groups.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Conduct a minimum of 25 telephone and email solicitations weekly while in the office. Respond to all inquiries within 24 hours or by due date if noted. Negotiate the highest possible group room rates available, most profitable concession packages and banquet food and beverage contribution according to Hilton’s Revenue Manager and minimum acceptable guidelines set and established by the hotel. Conduct hotel site inspections throughout the hotel to maximize revenues by selling all facets of the hotel. Entertain clients, as appropriate, for potential business. Monitors program and room pickup or receipt of rooming list, at 90, 60 and 30 days out.

  • Maintain sales database accounts, to include activity/traces and correspondence, within the Delphi system. Ensure timely and accurate distribution of information to all departments.
  • Project future business on a monthly basis in order to evaluate achievement of goals for the individual as well as the team member
  • Attend various training meetings throughout the year to sharpen sales skills
  • Travel to assigned geographical area to conduct direct solicitations of new and existing clients. Attend trade shows according to the annual marketing plan travel schedule and entertain clients where deemed necessary.
  • Analyze opportunities to maximize revenues for the hotel. Assist in generating sales projections monthly and quarterly group specifications. Assist with the budgeting process by forecasting group room nights and revenue for contracted business. Maintain an awareness of the competitive set.
  • Attend bi-weekly sales meetings. Attend pre-convention meetings with clients and appropriate hotel staff with groups of 50 rooms or more. Meet and entertain on-site meeting planners.
  • Prepare monthly sales reports. Complete special projects as assigned by the Director of Sales.

OTHER:

Due to the nature of the hospitality industry, team members may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel including weekends and holidays.

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS:

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the hotel.

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

  • Possess knowledge of a hotel’s structure and how all departments interact. Be knowledgeable of the destination and be able to present articulately to potential customers in a formal setting or on a site inspection of the resort
  • Possess experience and knowledge of group meeting market, current market trends and economic factors, development and delivery of sales presentations, personnel and labor relations, preparation of business and marketing plans, budget forecasting and management, quality assurance programs, hotel law, and the development of long-range planning.
  • Possess leadership skills to motivate and develop staff and to ensure accomplishment of goals.
  • Ability to set priorities, plan, organize, and to delegate assignments to accomplish tasks, often within strict time limitations.
  • Ability to apply technical knowledge of federal and state regulations to practical situations with the hospitality industry.
  • Able to read, write, hear, speak and understand the English language to communicate with management and staff, being persuasive, clear and to the point. Written communication skills to be concise, well organized, complete, clear and understandable in order to formulate complex reports and communicate with the public and hotel staff.
  • Possess basic skills in the use of computers and software programs associated with the department.
  • Possess considerable knowledge of mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) to create and maintain budgets, cost analysis reports, calculate trends in guest and team member opinion reports, etc.
  • Able to move throughout premise and visually inspect conditions requiring bending, stooping and reaching arms overhead.
  • Able to remain calm in emergency situations and to effectively work with the internal and external guests, some of whom require patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger, and provide positive and proactive solutions.
  • Able to travel to various sites on and off the hotel property, while maintaining contact with the hotel, to perform essential job duties.
  • Able to remain stationary (sitting or standing) and concentrate on tasks for long periods of time often in a high volume high-pressure area.
  • Able to use finger/hand movements for extended periods of time. Finger and hand dexterity to manipulate switches, writing instruments, a computer keyboard, etc.
  • Able to grasp and lift up to 25 lbs., waist high.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 4 year college degree in hotel/restaurant management, sales and marketing or similar field preferred.

Experience:

  • 3-5 years prior Hilton Hotels Sales Experience necessary
  • Additional experience in hotel operations preferred
  • Prior hotel sales experience necessary. Additional experience in hotel operations preferred.
  • Computer literate, knowledge of Delphi, FDC, OnQ or similar sales software, and Microsoft Office software preferred.
