R&D Overview:
At Toyota Research and Development (R&D), we're working to build a future where everyone has the freedom to move, with a focus on vehicle design and development, procurement, supplier engineering development, mobility, safety, and advanced research. Centered in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Toyota R&D has some of the brightest thinkers from across America dedicated to building the future of mobility where everyone can live more safely and comfortably.
Who we're looking for:
As a R&D Co-op, you will be assigned a variety of projects that align with both departmental objectives and your personal development goals. These projects may include designing parts or components, developing software, conducting evaluations and data analysis, or enhancing efficiency through internal tool development, among other tasks. You'll work in a collaborative team environment alongside your manager, mentor, and fellow team members to deliver meaningful contributions to the organization. Additionally, you will be paired with a non-technical mentor and have opportunities to participate in networking and professional development activities throughout your co-op term.
Co-op's will work on a variety of engineering assignments in the following groups:
  • Advanced Mobility (Integrated Vehicle Systems)
  • Connected Technologies
  • Powertrain
  • Product Performance Engineering (Materials, Performance Analysis & Evaluation, Vehicle Performance Development)
  • Vehicle Development & Engineering (Electronics, Body, Chassis)

What you bring:
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Minimum GPA of 2.7 or higher
  • Must have the right to work in the United States and not require Toyota sponsorship for immigration-related employment (e.g., H-1B, O-1, E-3, H-1B1, TN, or F-1 OPT extension) now or in the future
  • Currently enrolled in a full-time, accredited degree program (this includes both two-year and four-year college/university) studying in one of the following disciplines: Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Biomedical, Aerospace, Computer Engineering, Materials Science, Computer Science, Automotive Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology
  • Must have completed at least one full academic year at a two-year or four-year college or university post-high school (sophomore standing or above)
