Commercial Install Technician

Job Description

Position Summary

The Commercial Install Technician is responsible for performing interior construction, seating installation, tile work, and the setup of commercial kitchen machinery and equipment for restaurant and retail environments. This role supports new builds, remodels, and equipment replacements, ensuring all installations meet company standards, manufacturer specifications, and applicable safety and building codes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Interior Construction & Finishes

  • Install interior seating, booths, counters, millwork, and related fixtures.
  • Perform tile installation, repair, and finishing for floors, walls, and backsplashes.
  • Complete light carpentry, framing, drywall, and trim work as needed for remodels or new installations.
  • Ensure all work aligns with project plans, brand standards, and quality expectations.

Commercial Kitchen Equipment Installation

  • Install, anchor, level, and secure commercial kitchen equipment including:
    • Ovens, fryers, grills, steamers, and ranges
    • Refrigeration units, prep tables, and reach insins
    • Dish machines, sinks, and stainless-steel steel workstations
    • Beverage systems and specialty restaurant equipment
    • All HVAC Equipment
  • Connect equipment to utilities (electrical, gas, water) within the scope of certification and company policy.
  • Coordinate with licensed trades (plumbing, electrical, HVAC) when required.

Project Execution & Site Readiness

  • Read and interpret plans, installation manuals, and project specifications.
  • Prepare job sites, including demolition, surface prep, and staging of materials.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas during and after installation.
  • Communicate progress, delays, or material needs to project managers or supervisors.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow OSHA standards, company safety protocols, and manufacturer installation requirements.
  • Use proper PPE and ensure safe operation of tools, lifts, and equipment.
  • Identify and report hazards, structural concerns, or code compliance issues.

Tools & Equipment

  • Operate hand tools, power tools, tile saws, drills, grinders, and specialty installation equipment.
  • Safely use pallet jacks, dollies, lifts, and rigging equipment for heavy machinery placement.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Experience in commercial construction, carpentry, tile installation, or equipment installation.
  • Ability to read plans, diagrams, and technical specifications.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lift, move, and position heavy equipment (often 50100 lbs with assistance).
  • Willingness to travel to multiple job sites, including overnight or out-of-state projects as needed.
  • Valid drivers license and acceptable driving record.

Preferred

  • Experience in restaurants or retail buildouts.
  • Familiarity with commercial kitchen equipment installation.
  • Certifications in OSHA 10/30, equipment handling, or trade specificspecific training.
  • Must have valid drivers license.
  • May need EPA Certification (within first three (3) months of hire).

Physical Requirements

  • Standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, and lifting for extended periods of time throughout the workday.
  • Ability to work in hot, cold, or confined environments depending on job site conditions.
  • Ability to safely maneuver heavy objects and equipment (often 50-100 lbs) using proper lifting techniques and tools.

Work Environment

  • Fastpaced construction and installation settings.
  • Indoor and outdoor work depending on project phase.
  • Exposure to dust, noise, power tools, and construction materials.

Schedule

  • Typical Day Shift
  • Monday Friday
  • On Call (may be called in afterhours or on weekends)
  • May be required to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overnight
