Job description

Live Shopping Host / Content Creator – Whatnot & TikTok Live

Full-Time | On-Site | Hunt Valley, MD | Hourly Pay + Sales Commission

Are you energetic, quick on your feet, comfortable on camera, and able to keep an audience entertained?

We’re hiring a full-time Live Shopping Host / Content Creator to host live sales streams on Whatnot and TikTok Live from our Hunt Valley, Maryland facility.

This is not a traditional retail sales job. You’ll be live on camera showcasing products, interacting with viewers, running auctions and promotions, and creating an entertaining shopping experience that keeps people watching and buying.

Our hosts are paid an hourly rate plus commission based on the revenue their streams generate, so strong performers have the opportunity to earn significantly more.

What You'll Do

  • Host live shopping streams on Whatnot and TikTok Live
  • Present and demonstrate a wide variety of consumer products
  • Engage with viewers and respond to comments and questions in real time
  • Keep streams energetic, entertaining, and moving at a fast pace
  • Explain products clearly and confidently while creating urgency around purchases
  • Build a recognizable on-camera personality and develop relationships with repeat viewers
  • Work with our team to plan products, promotions, and stream formats
  • Learn which products and presentation styles generate the strongest engagement and sales
  • Help create short-form social media content for platforms such as TikTok and Instagram
  • Meet individual stream sales and performance goals

Who We're Looking For

You do not need previous Whatnot experience. We care much more about your personality, communication skills, sales ability, and comfort level on camera.

You may be a great fit if you have experience in:

  • Radio, broadcasting, podcasting, or other live media
  • TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, or social media content creation
  • Livestreaming or live shopping
  • On-camera hosting or presenting
  • Retail, sales, or product demonstrations
  • Entertainment, comedy, theater, or other performance-based roles

A background in radio, broadcasting, or content creation is a major plus because successful hosts need to be able to continuously talk, improvise, engage an audience, and maintain energy without relying on a script.

Spanish-Language Hosts Encouraged to Apply

We are expanding our live shopping operation and plan to launch a 100% Spanish-language livestream.

Candidates who are fluent in Spanish and comfortable hosting an entire live show in Spanish are strongly encouraged to apply. Bilingual English/Spanish candidates are especially valuable as we expand this part of our business.

Spanish fluency is a plus, not a requirement for all positions.

What Makes Someone Successful in This Role

Our strongest hosts are:

  • Naturally outgoing and personable
  • Comfortable being on camera for extended periods
  • Fast thinkers who can improvise instead of relying on a script
  • Persuasive without sounding overly rehearsed or "salesy"
  • Competitive and motivated by performance-based compensation
  • Able to maintain high energy throughout a live stream
  • Comfortable speaking continuously and filling dead air
  • Reliable and able to consistently work scheduled streams
  • Interested in social media, ecommerce, entertainment, and emerging shopping platforms

Schedule

This is a full-time, on-site position in Hunt Valley, MD.

Live shopping happens when customers are watching, so evening and weekend availability is required. This is not a Monday-Friday, 9-to-5 position.

Applicants should have schedule flexibility and be comfortable regularly working nights and weekends.

Compensation

$16–$19/hour base pay + 3% commission on all sales generated during your streams

This is a performance-driven role with significant earning potential. Our live streams typically generate approximately $600–$1,500+ in sales per hour, and hosts earn 3% commission on the revenue generated during their streams.

Full-time hosts can expect to spend approximately 25–30 hours per week live on camera, with remaining hours dedicated to stream preparation, product selection and curation, and content-related responsibilities.

Based on typical stream performance, successful full-time hosts have the potential to earn approximately $65,000–$100,000+ annually, including base pay and commission. Top-performing hosts may exceed this range.

There is no cap on sales commission.

Location

Hunt Valley, Maryland

This is a 100% on-site position. Remote work is not available for this role.

How to Apply

Please submit your resume along with a short explanation of why you think you'd be a strong live host.

Bonus: If you have experience creating content, broadcasting, livestreaming, podcasting, or appearing on camera, include links to your TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, demo reel, podcast, or other examples of your work.

If you're bilingual and interested in hosting our Spanish-language stream, please mention your Spanish fluency in your application.
