Job description

NO LONGER ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS
TEMPORARY OUTREACH COORDINATOR (PART-TIME)
SUMMER SEARCH, BOSTON
At Summer Search, we believe in 'No Ceilings' and envision a world in which young people, regardless of circumstances, can chart their own destiny. In the United States, students from underserved communities - disproportionately BIPOC and first-generation - face systemic inequities in school, in the workforce, and in life. Nevertheless, these young people possess unique strengths, resilience, and limitless potential.
Since 1990, Summer Search has partnered with young people during their transition from adolescence into adulthood by connecting them to expansive opportunities, professional mentoring, and a community of support. Summer Searchers recognize their potential and build a toolkit to navigate and challenge systemic barriers, break new ground for their families and communities, and achieve economic equity and a life of purpose.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The Temporary Outreach Coordinator will provide crucial support to achieving Summer Search Boston's student recruitment goal to recruit 185+ high school sophomores who will become the next cohort of Summer Search Boston participants. This position reports to the Outreach Manager.
TERM DETAILS:
  • Length of term: This hire will start Sept 14, 2026. The role will end on or before December 18, 2026.
  • Hours per week: Up to 20 hours/ week.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
The Temporary Outreach Coordinator will provide essential support to our Boston Outreach team to ensure a smooth and strategic student recruitment season. Your work will focus on tracking data, supporting referral partners, and attending outreach presentations. Specifically, the Temporary Outreach Coordinator will contribute to Boston Outreach efforts in the following ways:
Administrative and Reporting Support
  • Send timely, customized application progress reports and communications to referral partners (e.g. school counselors, teachers).
  • Maintain and organize outreach documents, partner notes, and scheduling calendars.
  • Monitor the scheduling and completion of school-based presentations and events across key partner sites.
  • Track outreach deliverables and follow up on pending logistics to ensure timely completion.

Outreach Presentation and Event Support
  • Attend and support delivery of in-school and virtual recruitment presentations to prospective students at schools, and community centers.
  • Assist in facilitating or staffing key student recruitment events (application workshops).
  • Collaborate with the Outreach Manager to support organization systems and project plans.
  • Track presentation attendance, nominations, applications, and other outreach metrics.

Special Projects & Public Speaking Assessment
  • Contribute to projects that enhance recruitment strategy or visibility in the Boston area.
  • Marketing - creating unique Summer Search recruitment materials for increased brand visibility and collateral for our Referral Partners

WHO YOU ARE
The Temporary Outreach Coordinator is an exciting opportunity for an organized professional and strong communicator to represent a mission-driven organization and contribute to more equitable educational outcomes in Boston. Specifically, strong candidates will bring:
  • EXPERIENCE: 2+ years of administrative, program support, or youth development experience, ideally in school, nonprofit, or education settings. Willingness to present to groups with group presentation experience preferred.
  • ACCOUNTABILITY: You hold yourself and others responsible for processes, decisions, actions, and commitments to results to drive high quality outcomes. You're responsive to the needs of stakeholders and follow through on commitments.
  • PROJECT MANAGEMENT: You take initiative to create systems and structures to achieve goals and objectives. You succeed at managing and prioritizing multiple workstreams and motivating, coordinating, and directing others to stay on track.
  • COMMUNICATION EFFECTIVENESS: You are an active listener and thoughtful and strategic when conveying feedback, sharing ideas, or responding to inquiries to various audiences in multiple formats.
  • TECHNOLOGY SKILLS: Experience using tools like Google/ Outlook Workspace. Experience using a CRM with Salesforce experience preferred.

In addition, all Summer Search staff bring a commitment to our mission of unleashing students' potential through mentoring and transformative experiences, as well as the ability to thrive in an environment that values excellence, gratitude, well-being, diversity, authenticity, and collaboration.
WORK HOURS AND LOCATION
This hybrid role requires approximately 20 hours per week. The Outreach Coordinator will spend time conducting in-person school visits to deliver recruitment presentations and engage with students, while also working remotely to manage database upkeep and administrative tasks.
Most presentations will happen during the hours of 7AM-3PM with the occasional weekend support needed.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
This is a non-exempt position with an hourly rate of $33 per hour for up to 20 hours per week. Summer Search is committed to transparent, equitable compensation practices.
As this is a temporary role, this hire will not be eligible for group benefits such as health insurance. Temporary hires accrue pro-rated sick time at a rate equivalent to 10 days on a full-time schedule. Temporary employees also receive holiday pay for hours they are regularly scheduled to work that fall on a company holiday.
OUR COMMITMENT TO EQUITY, DIVERSITY, AND INCLUSION
With a staff that cares deeply about social justice and racial justice, we believe that diverse perspectives and backgrounds create a rich work environment and enhance our ability to pursue our mission. We are committed to building an organization with raised consciousness in order to impact how we work with students, as well as how we work together as a team.
