Job Description & RequirementsMedical-Surgical Telemetry Nurse
Job OverviewThis role involves providing nursing care predominantly in the Medical-Surgical Telemetry unit. Nurses will be expected to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability while floating within designated zones, covering various specialties and patient types.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe focus will be on adult and geriatric populations with diverse medical conditions, including:
The nurse-patient ratio is typically 1:5-6 based on the acuity of the patients. There are designated charge nurses who may not always take patient assignments unless necessary, particularly during night shifts.
Schedule and FlexibilityShifts will generally run from 7 AM to 7 PM or 7 PM to 7 AM, with weekend requirements of 6 to 9 weekend shifts over a 6-week timeframe. Schedules may be subject to change, with variations such as scheduled weeks at a single facility or Just-In-Time (JIT) assignments occurring shortly before shifts.
Orientation and TrainingNew hires will undergo 1-2 days of specific orientation with a preceptor to ensure familiarity with the floating requirements and unit protocols.
Additional NotesTravelers must secure their housing within a 60-mile radius of the assigned facilities, accommodating the requirement to float within the designated zone. All time-off requests need to be submitted prior to the start of the assignment.
