Maintenance Technician - Swiss Village Apartments

Swiss Village Apartments is seeking a dedicated Maintenance Technician to join our team. This role is crucial in maintaining the quality and functionality of our Syracuse apartment complex.

Job Overview

The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for responding to service calls, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of all property equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promptly respond to and address repair requests from tenants in a courteous and efficient manner.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and necessary repairs on various property equipment, including:
    • Kitchen appliances
    • Laundry facilities
    • Boiler systems
    • Plumbing
    • HVAC systems
    • Electrical systems
    • Individual apartment units
  • Monitor and maintain engineering functions during off-hours, including weekends and evenings.
  • Respond to emergency situations such as fire alarms, bomb threats, disasters, and power failures.
  • Conduct regular property inspections to ensure everything is in working order.
  • Clean and maintain all equipment and work areas.
  • Document maintenance requests, equipment readings, and parts usage.
  • Maintain property grounds, including snow removal when necessary.
  • Report any unsafe conditions to the Chief Engineer.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent trade school certification.
  • Special courses in building maintenance and construction are preferred.
  • Experience in building maintenance or a related industry is preferred.
  • Knowledge in maintaining and repairing HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems is preferred.
  • Ability to perform carpentry, repair work, construction, and renovation tasks preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate pick-up trucks and snow removal equipment may be required.
