Job description

A structural steel fabrication and construction company is seeking an Estimator to join its preconstruction team. This role is a great fit for someone who is sharp with numbers, comfortable reading complex blueprints, and energized by the fast pace of competitive bidding. You will play a key role in shaping project costs from the earliest stages, working closely with designers, vendors, and project managers to turn drawings into accurate, winning proposals. Estimator Responsibilities - Coordinate distribution of bid documents to subcontractors alongside the document control team - Prepare scope, alternates, and exclusions for proposals ahead of customer submission - Complete detailed material and labor take-offs using estimating software - Generate take-off reports for review by senior leadership - Compile cost recaps and vendor scope analysis for management review - Coordinate project scope and schedule with vendors and subcontractors - Partner with designers on conceptual budget pricing and cost-saving strategies for upcoming projects - Support project managers through the transition from bid to construction - Prepare pricing for change requests tied to design changes Estimator Requirements: - 3+ years of experience estimating steel construction projects required - Bachelors degree preferred but not required - Tekla experience strongly preferred
