Patient Safety Coordinator position details
  • Location: Winter Haven Hospital
  • Status: Full Time, Salary
  • Shift Hours: 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM

The Patient Safety Coordinator plays a pivotal role in driving initiatives toward zero harm, working closely with executive leaders and alongside team members to strengthen and sustain a culture of safety. Responsibilities include:
  • Lead and facilitate patient safety initiatives impacting clinical and operational processes throughout the organization
  • Review and reduce medical errors and other factors that contribute to patient harm
  • Work collaboratively with care teams and leaders to develop, deploy and monitor patient safety standard adherence and patient safety improvement processes that ensure safe, clinically effective care
  • Engage the unit/department based patient safety coaches in process improvement activities and harm reduction strategies
  • Provide on-going support, education and guidance to leaders, team members and physicians on patient safety practices and protocols to mitigate risk of errors that cause patient harm and foster a safety culture across the health system
  • Oversee and audit safety process adherence and maintains documentation of performance improvement efforts

Education:
  • Required Associates Nursing or Bachelors Healthcare Related
  • Preferred Bachelors Nursing

Credentials:
  • Required RN (Registered Nurse)
  • CPPS (Patient Safety) certification preferred
  • Required specific skills include: Knowledge of regulatory standards as relates to the Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goals

Experience:
  • 5 years clinical related experience
  • 2 years leadership experience preferred
