Job description

Registered Nurse-Operating Room 

Location: Sitka, Alaska
Pay Rate: $70/hr – $73/hr
Contract: 13 Weeks
Shift: 4x10-hour shifts, Tuesday–Friday
Schedule: Full-time with on-call required
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours/week
Experience: Minimum 3 years Operating Room experience required
EMR: Meditech

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse for a contract opportunity in Sitka, Alaska. This role is ideal for a skilled OR nurse with strong surgical experience who can support elective and emergency cases in a critical access/rural hospital setting.

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care in the Operating Room for surgical patients

  • Support elective and emergency procedures across multiple specialties

  • Assist with abdominal, thoracic, urology, ENT, plastics, orthopedics, vascular, and OB/GYN cases

  • Coordinate with surgeons, anesthesia, PACU, Pre-Op, and surgical team members

  • Maintain sterile technique, patient safety, and OR workflow efficiency

  • Participate in after-hours call coverage for nights, weekends, and holidays

  • Document care and surgical activity using Meditech

Requirements

  • Active Alaska Registered Nurse license required at submission

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required

  • Minimum 3 years of Operating Room experience required

  • BLS/BCLS required

  • ACLS required

  • PALS required

  • Critical Access Hospital or rural OR experience strongly preferred

  • Flu vaccine required

  • Must live at least 50 miles from the facility

  • Fingerprint processing required after acceptance and may impact start date
