Weekend St Charles Rn information

What is a Weekend St Charles RN?

Weekend St Charles RNs are registered nurses who work at St Charles facilities, specifically during weekends. They are responsible for providing patient care, administering medications, monitoring patient health, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals. Working weekends often means longer shifts or unique schedules, but it can also offer flexibility and shift differentials. These nurses play a vital role in ensuring continuous, high-quality care for patients admitted over the weekend.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a Weekend St Charles RN?

To thrive as a Weekend St Charles RN, you need a current RN license, strong clinical assessment abilities, and experience in acute or hospital care. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems, medication administration protocols, and hospital-specific documentation tools is typically required. Exceptional communication, critical thinking, and the ability to remain calm under pressure are valuable soft skills for this role. These skills and qualities are essential for delivering safe, effective patient care and ensuring smooth operations during high-demand weekend shifts.

What are the typical challenges faced by a Weekend St Charles RN, and how can I prepare for them?

Weekend St Charles RNs often manage higher patient loads due to reduced weekend staffing and may encounter a broader range of acute cases. Effective time management, adaptability, and strong communication skills are essential to ensure patient safety and deliver quality care despite the fast-paced environment. Collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team and being proactive in seeking support can help you navigate these challenges. Familiarizing yourself with hospital protocols and utilizing available resources will also contribute to a smoother transition into the role.

Job description

Weekend RN Supervisor
Pediatric Skilled Nursing at St. Margaret's Center | Albany, NY

Part Time | Night Shift | Weekends Only: Saturday & Sunday

Pay: $50-$56/hour
based on experience and applicable shift differential

If you're an experienced RN looking for a weekend-only leadership opportunity where you can make a meaningful impact, St. Margaret's Center offers a nursing environment unlike a traditional skilled nursing facility.

Our residents don't just receive care-they experience childhood, education, friendships, family connections, community outings, and meaningful daily life. At St. Margaret's Center, we see kids, not conditions.

St. Margaret's Center, an affiliate of the Center for Disability Services, is a 94-bed pediatric and young adult skilled nursing facility in Albany, NY. Since 1883, we have provided compassionate, specialized long-term care for medically fragile infants, children, and young adults in a nurturing, home-like environment.

Why You'll Love Working at St. Margaret's:
  • Weekend-only schedule - work Saturday and Sunday nights
  • Unique opportunity to work in pediatric and young adult skilled nursing
  • Small units averaging approximately 16 residents per unit
  • Strong staffing and leadership support
  • Collaborative, team-based nursing environment
  • Meaningful work with residents who attend school, participate in activities, and engage with their community
  • Opportunity to provide hands-on clinical leadership while supporting nurses and direct care teams
What You'll Do:

As the Weekend RN Supervisor, you'll provide clinical and operational leadership throughout the facility during your assigned shift. You'll be a resource for the nursing team, help ensure high-quality resident care, and respond to clinical and staffing needs as they arise.

Responsibilities include:
  • Provide clinical leadership and oversee facility operations during the assigned shift
  • Respond to resident emergencies and support timely clinical decision-making
  • Supervise and support nursing staff, including assignments, performance, and day-to-day needs
  • Coordinate staffing needs, including call-offs and coverage decisions
  • Conduct regular rounds to support resident safety, infection prevention, and quality of care
  • Complete and review required documentation, including incident reports, shift reports, and audits
  • Support quality improvement and regulatory compliance initiatives
  • Communicate and collaborate with Nursing Administration as needed
What We're Looking For:
  • Current and valid New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience
  • At least 1 year of supervisory or leadership experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in nursing preferred
  • Long-term care and/or developmental disabilities experience preferred
Benefits & Perks:

As part of the Center for Disability Services, St. Margaret's Center offers a mission-driven workplace, opportunities for professional growth, and a supportive team environment.

Benefits may include:
  • Low-cost Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance
  • Paid Holidays
  • 401(k) Retirement Plan
  • Tuition Assistance
  • Employee Referral Bonus
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Free Life & Long-Term Disability Insurance
  • Career Development & Training Programs
  • Wellness & Employee Recognition Programs
  • Supplemental Insurance Options (Accident, Critical Illness, etc.)
  • Access to Rain, allowing employees to access earned wages before their regular payday

At The Center for Disability Services, we don't just accept difference - we celebrate it, support it and thrive on it for the benefit of our employees and the people we support. We are proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer and do not discriminate against any protected class of job applicant or employee in our employment practices.
