Join the dominant news team in West Texas, where innovation, collaboration, and great journalism set us apart.

Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

  • Write, edit, and publish news articles, breaking news alerts, live updates, and feature content for web and mobile.
  • Shoot and edit photos and video for digital and social platforms.
  • Upload and manage video clips, livestreams, and OTT/CTV programming using newsroom CMS and video platforms.
  • Produce short and long-form video content using Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, Audition, Canva, or similar tools.
  • Appear on camera for explainers, digital hits, interviews, or live social segments when needed.
  • Create engaging headlines, push alerts, and metadata optimized for SEO and social performance.
  • Monitor scanners, social feeds, and wires for breaking news and emerging content opportunities.
  • Collaborate with broadcast producers, reporters, and photographers to convert on-air content into digital-first stories.
  • Execute social media strategy by posting and scheduling content across Facebook, X/Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and others.
  • Track performance using analytics tools (Adobe/Google Analytics, Chartbeat, CrowdTangle) and adjust strategy accordingly.
  • Ensure all content meets journalistic, legal, and ethical standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Digital Media, Communications, or equivalent newsroom experience.
  • Strong writing, spelling, and AP Style proficiency.
  • Familiarity with CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress, Arc, Bitcentral, Lakana, Clickability).
  • Proficient in shooting and editing both photos and video using DSLR, mobile, or ENG equipment.
  • Strong understanding of SEO, social media strategy, and audience behavior.
  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Flexible schedule - must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays as news demands.

Preferred Skills

  • Confident on-camera presence and/or hosting ability.
  • Fluent in Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, Audition, Photoshop) and Canva.
  • Experience with livestreaming, OTT/CTV publishing, and YouTube optimization.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.
