Job description

Our client is a reputable Environmental, Geotechnical, and Civil Engineering firm serving the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast. Due to continued growth, they areseeking a Soil Scientist to support private and public sector soil investigation work for projects in Eastern North Carolina.Will work in both the field and office to support NEPA and SEPA environmental assessment, remediation, and construction projects.

The successful candidate will possess the following skill and qualifications:

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare project planning documents, conduct field work preparation, and provide support to engineering teams, client, and contractors
  • Support remediation programs through analysis of remedial alternatives
  • Participating and collaborating with stakeholders to meet project objectives
  • Perform soil, groundwater, sediment, surface water, and waste characterization sampling
  • Operate and maintain soil and groundwater remedial systems

Qualifications:

  • Must be a local resident to the area/able to comfortably commute to projects in Eastern NC
  • Must have technical writing skills (document prep, field paperwork, report writing)
  • Must have at least a Bachelors Degree in Geology, Engineering, or related in Environmental Science field
  • Must have at least 2years of experience in an assessment and remediation type setting, working on contaminated sites specifically
  • Must be able to become registered (PE, PG, EIT, GIT)

Years of Experience:

  • 2+ years of experience in environmental assessment/remediation field experience (with Bachelors or Masters)

Skills:

  • Field sampling, technical writing, contaminated site, remediation field experience

Preferred:

  • Federal clients, CERCLA projects / process, GIT / EIT, on track for PE or PG or any registration, or previous experience managing subcontractors

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of NEPA, SEPA and other environmental regulations

Work Environment:

  • Office location in Wilmington, SC, field work around Wilmingtonwith some travel required
  • Good for someone that is independent and self motivated
