We're looking for CNC Machinist to join our manufacturing team in Caldwell, Idaho. This position plays a key role in our Tooling department, contributing to precision manufacturing and continuous process improvement.
The CNC Machinist will be responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC machines to cut and shape materials such as laminates, foams, MDF, and fiberglass with exceptional accuracy. You'll work closely with our Tooling and Engineering teams, supporting product development and helping identify opportunities to reduce machine downtime and increase efficiency in production.

Responsibilities & Duties
• Program, set up, and operate 4-axis CNC machines for cutting and machining composite materials (foam, MDF, fiberglass).
• Read, interpret, and work from technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD/CAM files.
• Create and optimize CNC programs using Mastercam (preferred) or similar software.
• Select appropriate tools, feeds, and speeds for efficient and accurate machining.
• Perform routine maintenance, machine adjustments, and troubleshooting to ensure quality output.
• Inspect finished components to ensure they meet dimensional and surface finish requirements.
• Organizes and Maintians and necessary files in library for efficient reference and use.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area following safety protocols.
• Operates forklifts to deliver and stock raw materials at point of use
• Builds and complies with Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions for all relevant work.
• Constructs patterns and builds all FRP tooling correctly, as defect free as possible to deliver to quality patterns to Mold building functions on time.
• Fabrication (welding) of steel frames for new FRP molds per provided specifications;
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve machining processes and part quality.
• Apply lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste, improve workflow, and increase machining efficiency.
• Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to streamline setups, reduce cycle times, and enhance tooling strategies.
• Problem solving with lean tools (A6 / A3 / PDCA)
Requirements
Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills
• 3+ years of CNC machining experience, preferably with 4-axis machining router (5 Axis preferred) in a composites or woodworking related industry.
• Proficiency with Mastercam (preferred) or similar CAM programming software.
• Strong understanding of machining principles, cutting tool selection, and material properties (foam, MDF, fiberglass).
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and CAD models.
• Understanding of G and M code; capable of making necessary edits at controller station.
• Experience with inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) for quality verification.
• Mechanical aptitude and strong problem-solving skills.
• High attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality parts.
• Technical school certifications are a plus
• Fabrication experience with a wide variety of materials that can include wood, steel, body fillers, sprayable coatings and fiberglass
• General construction basics including concepts of angles, draft, slope, and tolerances
• Ability to perform basic metal cutting and welding
• Comfortable using an extensive variety of hand and power tools
• CNC equipment repairs a plus
• CCT certification (will certify through OJT)
• Experience applying lean manufacturing principles to CNC machining processes.
• Proven ability to participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including setup reduction, workflow optimization, and standard work practices.
• Builds competency with developing skills and ownership while being given intermittent control and decision making.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
• Work may occur in industrial, facility, and outdoor environments.
- Exposure to moderate noise, temperature changes, chemicals, solvents, and hazardous equipment.
• Requires standing/walking for extended periods, frequent bending, climbing, lifting up to 100 lbs with assistance.
• Ability to stand for extended periods up to 10 hrs.
• Use of PPE including respirators when required (fiberglass/foam dust exposure).
Tools, Equipment & Protective Gear Used
Drills, saws, grinders, mixers, forklifts, welding equipment, and other hand/power tools. PPE includes safety glasses, gloves, ear protection, and other protective gear as required.
Travel Requirements
Local regional travel to include all Bestbath Systems facilities.
