What engineers make $500,000?

Highly experienced software engineers, especially those in specialized fields like machine learning, AI, or cybersecurity, can earn $500,000 or more annually. What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Weekend Software Developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Weekend Software Developer, you need strong programming skills in relevant languages (such as Python, Java, or JavaScript), software development experience, and often at least a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with version control systems like Git, popular frameworks, and agile project management tools is typically expected. You can expect your responsibilities to focus on feature development, bug fixes, or code reviews, with an emphasis on self-management and proactive reporting. Building strong written communication skills will help you succeed and integrate smoothly with the broader development team.
