Job description

This position plays a key role in strengthening connections between Middlebury and its alumni community through strategic program development, events, and volunteer engagement. The position leads and coordinates initiatives across the alumni engagement portfolio and partners with team members and campus stakeholders to design and deliver highquality oncampus, regional, and virtual programs that foster meaningful and longterm alumni involvement.

This is a full-time, benefits eligible, salaried position with a hiring range of $58,395 - $68,709 per year.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute assigned alumni programs and events, including regional gatherings, virtual programs, and select on-campus events, which may include Homecoming, Alumni College, Volunteer Weekend, or reunions for student clubs, academic major or other interest and affinity groups.
  • Co-manage several reunion classes and collaborate with volunteers to shape programming that deepens alumni connections.
  • Oversee all event logistics for on and off campus events (venue, catering, transportation, A/V, signage, materials, etc.) to ensure smooth execution.
  • Develop communications for invitations and follow-up; track attendance and engagement using NXT/Raiser's Edge.
  • Analyze event outcomes and recommend improvements for future programming.
  • Build relationships with alumni leaders and volunteers to support engagement initiatives; communicate effectively and represent Middlebury in a variety of settings, with a wide range of members of the alumni community.
  • Envision, create and execute mutually beneficial engagement opportunities in collaboration with campus partners, including faculty, Athletics, Center for Careers and Internships, student organizations and more.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required. 
  • 3 years related experience required. Experience in a fundraising environment preferred. 
  • Well organized and able to manage multiple events concurrently. Must be detailed oriented, able to work well and maintain composure under pressure, and solve problems.  Ability to maintain confidentiality. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required. Effective interpersonal and communication skills, listening, diplomacy and tact to build strong relationships with donors, volunteers, and all levels of staff. 
  • Knowledge of desktop applications and relational databases, and Microsoft Office; Basic image editing software preferred; Willingness to learn new tools and technologies.  
  • Evening and weekend work required; some travel. 

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards.
