You write code for programming projects and also test your programs or debug the developments of other coding professionals. When working with systems software, your responsibilities may include making necessary changes and performing tests. Job description

Chief Engineer (Hotel Maintenance) – Holiday Inn Express Gulfport

Full Time | Hourly (NonExempt)

Holiday Inn Express Gulfport is seeking a skilled and reliable Chief Engineer to oversee all hotel maintenance and engineering operations. This is a handson role responsible for maintaining the property’s mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and lifesafety systems, as well as standard hotel laundry equipment.

This position does not supervise a team — it is the primary engineering role for the hotel and is essential to ensuring a safe, wellmaintained, guestready environment.

What You’ll Do:

  • Perform maintenance and repairs on hotel systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, firelife safety).
  • Complete preventive maintenance (PM) on guest rooms, public areas, and backofhouse spaces.
  • Maintain and repair standard hotel laundry equipment (washers, dryers).
  • Respond promptly to guest and staff maintenance requests.
  • Conduct regular property inspections and address issues proactively.
  • Maintain accurate logs, PM schedules, and compliance documentation.
  • Coordinate with outside vendors and contractors for specialized repairs.
  • Support hotel opening tasks, punch lists, and system commissioning.
  • Ensure all work meets Hilton brand standards and safety regulations.
 What We’re Looking For:
  • 3–5 years of hotel or building maintenance experience
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and lifesafety systems
  • Ability to work independently and manage daily priorities
  • Strong communication and customerservice skills
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and oncall as needed
  • Reliable transportation
  • High attention to detail and strong problemsolving skills

Preferred (Not Required):

  • HVAC certification
  • CPO, CCE, or CME certifications
  • Experience with Hilton or other major hotel brands
Why You’ll Love Working With Us:
  • You’ll be the expert. As the hotel’s primary engineering professional, you’ll have real ownership over your department and the freedom to make decisions that matter.
  • Brandnew property. Everything is new, clean, modern, and built to Hilton standards — no decadesold equipment or endless backlogs.
  • Hotel travel discounts. Enjoy generous employee hotel discounts across Hilton brands, making personal travel more affordable and fun.
  • Stable, fulltime role. Consistent hours, predictable work, and a longterm home with a growing hospitality group.
  • Supportive leadership. You’ll work with a GM and corporate team who respect the engineering function and give you the tools you need to succeed.
  • Positive, teamfocused culture. We value professionalism, communication, and treating each other with respect — no drama, no chaos.
  • Growth opportunities. As our portfolio expands, strong performers are the first considered for advancement.
  • Competitive pay and benefits. We believe in rewarding skill, reliability, and craftsmanship.

A&R Group is a vertically integrated turn-key hospitality firm focused on developing and operating high-value hotels through partnerships with globally recognized hotel brands. Equipped with full-service Development, Design, Construction and Hospitality Management teams, A&R is capable of addressing every stage of the process - from initial conception to ongoing maintenance and operations, A&R is the one-stop shop for every hospitality requisite.

What You'll Bring to the Role (Qualifications)
  • A high school diploma or equivalent GED is required-your foundation for success

  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience in hotel engineering, building maintenance, or civil engineering-you know your way around complex systems

  • 2-3 years of proven leadership or management experience-you've led teams and gotten results

  • Exceptional follow-through-you're organized, efficient, and great at managing your time

  • Deep knowledge of building systems, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and fire safety-you're the go-to problem-solver

  • Able to secure and maintain any required licenses, certificates, or permits to perform your role effectively

  • Reliable and committed-you're available when it counts, especially during challenging weather

  • Weekend and holiday availability is a must-hospitality never sleeps

  • Dependable transportation to and from the jobsite-punctuality is your trademark

  • Confident with tech-proficient in office software and mobile devices for communication and reporting

  • Safety-minded-you know the importance of compliance and loss prevention and put it into practice daily

  • Willingness to travel to job sites when needed

  • A collaborative team player who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment

  • Detail-oriented with a strong ability to follow instructions accurately

  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills-you keep calm and fix things fast

  • Emotionally intelligent and highly self-aware-you know how to lead, communicate, and connect

  • Cool under pressure-you maintain professionalism and poise even when things get tough

  • Always prepared-you foster an environment of readiness and proactive response

  • A positive representative of the company, both on and off property
