Job description

Job Summary

The Skipper Driver is responsible for operation of a grease collection truck, fat and bone collection truck, container maintenance, tractor trailer to collect raw material and finish goods deliveries while providing quality service to our customers.

  • Work Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday; Start time could vary weekly due to this is a fill in driver.
  • Will cover overnight runs as needed, will receive shift differential of $.50 when covering.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Pump or load grease containers; ensure cleanliness of container and surrounding area; returns container with screen and lock secured; notes any damages to container or corral area; properly completes route ticket with customer signature.
  • Service rendering (bulk or retail) customer container and/or trailers; ensure cleanliness of trailers and/or containers and surrounding area; tarp trailers as required prior to leaving customer location
  • Responsible for established route or bulk loads as assigned.
  • Responsible for company vehicle; keeps vehicle in clean condition.
  • Conducts all safety checks and inspections of vehicle; operates vehicle under state, federal, local regulations and in accordance with company policy and procedures; observes all company safety rules.
  • Attendance at all safety meetings required; may be asked to serve on Safety Committee.
  • Maintain excellent customer relations by presenting professional appearance and attitude.
  • Responsible for completing all company required paperwork in accordance with company policies (route tickets, driver vehicle inspection reports, accident reports, mileage reports, service forms, etc).
  • Maintain and update vehicle condition report on a daily basis.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must be 21 years of age with clean MVR.
  • Current CDL "A" license holder with tanker endorsement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior route experience within a customer oriented environment preferred.
  • Works well with others in a team environment.
  • Dependable; reliable; ability to work nights and/or weekends as needed.
  • Good math and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of safe operation of a commercial motor vehicle and general maintenance.

Physical Demands

  • Constantly required to walk, stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouch.
  • Frequently lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Regularly required reach with hands and arms.

Work Environment

Job functions will be carried out in a commercial motor vehicle, customer locations, and plant environment.
