Job description

About Zingaro- Italian Restaurant and Bar

Italians are storytellers, and every great story is fueled by adventure. Zingaro-the traveler, the wanderer, the free spirit-is the perfect name to capture the essence of a restaurant that takes your guests on a journey across Italy, one dish at a time. A menu inspired by the roads less traveled, from the smoky flavors of Sicily to the earthy truffles of Umbria, to the rich, buttery pastas of Emilia-Romagna. Zingaro is about tasting it all, embracing the diverse, vibrant, and bold flavors that make Italy a culinary treasure. This name is more than a nod to the gypsy spirit-it's a celebration of culinary wanderlust, where each dish tells a tale of tradition and innovation. Just as the Zingaro roams freely, our restaurant invites you to embark on a sensory journey that captures the essence of Italy's diverse regions. Come for the vibe, stay for the food!

Partnership & Hiring Note: Zingaro is a partner restaurant of Fabio Viviani Hospitality Group. While we collaborate closely with the FVH team, all open positions are hired directly by Zingaro.

Position: Pasta Cook

The Pasta Cook is responsible for preparing and executing high-quality pasta dishes, including handmade pasta and sauces, in accordance with the restaurant's recipes and standards. This role requires a strong understanding of pasta techniques, attention to detail, and a commitment to consistency, cleanliness, and teamwork within a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and execute pasta dishes according to the restaurant's menu and established standards
  • Craft fresh pasta from scratch, including dough preparation, shaping, and proper cooking techniques
  • Prepare and pair sauces appropriately to complement pasta dishes
  • Inspect and verify the freshness and quality of all ingredients used
  • Ensure all pasta dishes meet brand standards for flavor, presentation, and portion consistency
  • Assist with menu development by suggesting new pasta dishes and improvements
  • Monitor inventory levels for pasta production and communicate ordering needs
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation at all times
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene regulations
  • Train and guide junior kitchen staff on proper pasta preparation techniques as needed
  • Collaborate with chefs and kitchen team members to ensure smooth and efficient service
  • Stay current on industry trends and techniques related to pasta preparation and execution

    Qualifications

    • Proven experience as a Pasta Cook, Pasta Chef, or similar role
    • Strong knowledge of pasta types, ingredients, and cooking methods
    • Experience preparing fresh pasta and sauces from scratch
    • Ability to develop new pasta dishes and contribute creative ideas
    • High attention to detail and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
    • Strong communication and teamwork skills
    • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards
    • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays
    • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects as required

We strive to embrace what makes each one of us unique; we each have our own story, and there is only one YOU. We believe that celebrating and embracing this philosophy makes for a better world! Whether looking at our current staff or future team members, we believe that everyone has something to offer, and our employment practices reflect that. Whether by mandate or not, we never have and never will make our employment decision based upon race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local laws.
