Van Driver Job Description Moss Point Mississippi

Immediate Opening

Do you enjoy driving and want a flexible, rewarding part-time position in Moss Point, Mississippi? Highland Express Shuttle Service has an immediate opening for a van driver transporting military applicants. This self-managing position is well suited for dependable individuals, including those who are retired, semi-retired, or interested in supporting the military community.

The assigned route requires extended driving, and some shifts may reach 8 to 10 hours.

Position Details

  • Location: Moss Point, Mississippi. The driver must live in Moss Point or within 25 miles.
  • Position: Part-Time Van Driver
  • Schedule: Wednesday through Friday, with opportunities for additional hours or days supporting other routes as needed.
  • Route: Moss Point, Mississippi to Montgomery, Alabama, and return.
  • Vehicle: Company-provided 15-passenger Ford E350 van.
  • Veterans: Veterans are encouraged to apply.
  • Compensation: $16.00

The driver will transport military applicants from the Armed Forces Recruiting Station serving the Moss Point route to the Military Entrance Processing Station in Montgomery, Alabama, and return. Passenger schedules, traffic, weather, and operational needs may affect the length of the workday.

Requirements

  • Must live in Moss Point, Mississippi or within 25 miles.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and a clean Motor Vehicle Record.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to pass a police record or background check.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
  • Ability to pass a company-paid Department of Transportation physical.
  • Must be flexible, dependable, and able to remain focused during extended periods of driving.

Driver Responsibilities

  • Passenger Transportation: Safely transport military applicants along the assigned Moss Point-to-Montgomery route.
  • Vehicle Inspections and Records: Complete required pre-trip and post-trip inspections and maintain accurate driver records.
  • Weather and Road Conditions: Check conditions before travel and communicate delays or safety concerns to management.
  • Vehicle Cleanliness: Keep the vehicle's interior and exterior clean, presentable, and ready for passengers.
  • Maintenance Monitoring: Monitor the vehicle for warning lights, damage, unusual sounds, tire or brake concerns, and other maintenance needs.
  • Maintenance Appointments: Schedule and take the vehicle to approved maintenance appointments when directed. The company provides and pays for authorized maintenance.
  • Fueling: Fuel the assigned vehicle using the company fuel card and enter accurate mileage information.
  • Communication: Communicate professionally with military personnel, applicants, managers, and company staff.
  • Professional Conduct: Maintain safe, courteous, and professional conduct at all times.

Company-Provided Equipment and Support

  • 15-passenger Ford E350 van.
  • Authorized vehicle maintenance and maintenance support.
  • Fuel card.
  • Mobile phone and van tablet for communication and route coordination.

Training

The driver will receive two days of initial training and additional training as needed.

Pay Schedule

Hours worked from the 1st through the 15th are paid at the end of the month. Hours worked from the 16th through the last day of the month are paid on the 15th of the following month.
