Server

Destiny Coast - La Jolla, California

Destiny Coast, La Jolla's premier coastal dining destination, seeks dedicated server to join our service team. This position is essential in maintaining our high standards of service and contributing to an exceptional dining experience for our guests.

Position Overview

The Server position is a tipped position and plays a vital role in our service team. The server position will deliver attentive and knowledgeable service, guiding guests through the menu offerings while maintaining high standards of hospitality throughout the guest experience.ย 

Essential Responsibilities

Guest Service

  • Greet guests in a timely manner
  • Have full knowledge of the menu and offerings
  • Anticipate guest needs and respond promptly to requests
  • Have full knowledge of POS system
    • Experience with toast preferred but not required
  • Work with Kitchen staff to ensure customers are receiving their food items in a timely manner
  • Check in on guests throughout their dining experience

Service Support

  • Accurately take food and beverage orders and enter them into POS system
  • Maintain knowledge of menu items, including ingredients, preparation, and dietary considerations
  • Deliver food and beverages to guests with proper timing and presentation
  • Assist in opening and closing duties
  • Stock service stations with necessary supplies
  • Polish silverware, glassware, and plates
  • Maintain water service for all guests
  • Support special events and member functions

Dining Room Maintenance

  • Keep dining room and service areas clean and organized
  • Ensure proper setup of tables according to standards
  • Maintain orderly appearance of service stations
  • Assist with general cleaning duties including:
    • Sweeping and mopping floors
    • Dusting furniture and fixtures
    • Sanitizing high-touch surfaces
  • Report any maintenance issues to management
  • Assist in deep cleaning projects as assigned

Team Collaboration

  • Work effectively with host, bartenders, and kitchen staff
  • Facilitate efficient communication between front and back of house
  • Coordinate with kitchen staff for smooth food service flow
  • Communicate guest needs to appropriate team members
  • Support other sections during peak periods
  • Assist in training new team members
  • Participate in pre-shift meetings
  • Report guest feedback to management

Safety and Sanitation

  • Adhere to all safety and sanitation protocols
  • Follow proper cleaning product usage guidelines
  • Maintain clean and sanitized work areas
  • Report safety hazards immediately
  • Follow proper food handling procedures
  • Maintain personal and professional hygiene and grooming standards

Required Qualifications

  • Three years' experience in a full-service or fine dining restaurant required
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Food Handler's certification (or ability to obtain within 15 days)
  • RBS certification (or ability to obtain within 15 days)
  • Must be 18 years or older

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in fine dining establishments
  • Wine knowledge preferred
  • Knowledge of proper table service techniques
  • Understanding of food and beverage service
  • Additional language skills
  • Previous experience with POS systems (Toast)

Schedule and Availability

  • Flexible scheduling required
  • Weekend and holiday availability (excluding Christmas Day and Thanksgiving Day)
  • Ability to work lunch and dinner service
  • Dinner will be severed Wednesday through Sunday
  • Available for special events and member functions

Standards of Conduct

  • Destiny Coast maintains high professional standards for all team member
