Job description

TITLE: Security Guard

CLASSIFICATION: Technology Department - Classified Hourly Salary Schedule

REPORTS TO: Technology Supervisor

SUMMARY:

As a member of the District Technology staff, the security guard will provide security monitoring to all District facilities. The Security Guard will enforce school and district rules, patrol the campus to deter illegal or unauthorized activity, and assist in responding to emergencies.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Regularly patrols school and district buildings, grounds, and parking lots to detect potential hazards, vandalism, unauthorized persons, and suspicious activities.
  2. Report unlawful or suspicious activities to law enforcement.
  3. Document and report all incidents and unusual occurrences to administration. This includes reporting violations of school policy, theft, vandalism, and accidents.
  4. Monitor the visitor, reserved, carpool, and special parking spaces.
  5. Monitor security cameras.
  6. Attend in-service meetings
  7. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/ CERTIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • A valid driver's license
  • Proof of liability insurance for their vehicle

EXPERIENCE:

Security training and experience preferred.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES:

  • Ability to make good decisions.
  • A general command of English is required to read and interpret routine information such as work schedules, memos, and to communicate with employees.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The working environment is generally an office setting with some work outside in all types of weather and includes working in conditions that include poor lighting, dust, dirt and seasonal high temperatures. This position requires the employee to provide their own reliable transportation and possess a valid driver's license. The ability to drive between multiple district locations and patrol school campuses, including parking lots and other areas, is an essential function of the job. Employees will be responsible for maintaining a safe driving record and carrying the required liability insurance for their vehicle.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Twelve-month year, Classified Hourly Salary Schedule - Level C.

EVALUATION:

Performance to be evaluated in accordance with Board policy on evaluation of classified staff.
