The Night Crew 2nd is responsible for supporting the Night Crew Manager in supervising, directing, and maintaining proper pricing, stocking, facing, and rotation of merchandise in the Grocery department to convey an attractive store image to valued customers. In addition, the Night Crew 2nd assists the Night Crew Manager in ordering store products and scheduling efficiently according to company policy to help ensure that all department operations contribute to the best financial interest of the store.
Essential Functions of the Position:
  • Assist in delegating and assigning responsibilities and specific tasks to night crew team members as delegated by store management and ensuring assigned tasks are completed according to company standards.
  • Assist in monitoring shelf price integrity and restocking to ensure accuracy, proper product rotation, and quality protection.
  • Assist in monitoring procedures for case cutting to minimize the potential for damaged products and loss to the company.
  • Process damaged and spoiled products according to company policies and procedures.
  • Assist in ordering and inventory control; notify store management regarding invoice errors and product shortages according to company policies and procedures.
  • Assist in maintaining the "Wall of Values," end displays, and soda wall.
  • Coordinate with the Grocery Manager and Store Director to maintain back-stock items and merchandise on store shelves.
  • Take stock of applicable storage and workload areas.
  • As needed, assist in maintaining the functions of forklift lifts and other equipment. Report damaged or malfunctioning equipment to store management.
  • Monitor store conditions and report areas of concern to store management promptly.
  • Assist in the training and developing of night crew team members as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge:
  • Understanding of inventory systems and procedures.
  • Awareness of grocery products and categories to handle and store items correctly.
  • Knowledge of OSHA guidelines and other relevant health and safety regulations.

Skills:
  • Precision in checking and recording inventory, ensuring accuracy in stock levels and documentation.
  • Proficiency in using inventory management software, barcode scanners, and other warehouse technologies.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for coordinating with other staff and managing documentation.

Abilities:
  • Ability to maintain organized storage areas and manage inventory efficiently.
  • Ability to identify and resolve issues related to inventory discrepancies or storage problems.
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations, manage multiple demands, and work effectively with diverse personalities.
  • Aptitude for making informed decisions quickly, often in high-pressure environments.

Physical Requirements:
  • Stand and walk for extended periods, typically 8-hour shifts.
  • Lift and carry items up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
