Department: Laboratory
Shift/Schedule: Full-Time | 40 Hours per Week | Overnight Shift with Weekend & Holiday Rotation
Sign-On Bonus: $5,000
Join the Laboratory team at Marshalltown Hospital and play a vital role in delivering accurate, timely diagnostic testing that helps guide patient care across our hospital and clinics. Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostic testing across hematology, chemistry, microbiology, blood bank, and other laboratory specialties
  • Analyze and verify test results while ensuring accuracy and timely reporting of critical values
  • Collect, receive, process, and prepare patient specimens for testing and reference laboratory send-outs
  • Perform quality control, instrument maintenance, and basic troubleshooting to ensure reliable testing
  • Follow laboratory policies, regulatory standards, and safety guidelines
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to support patient care
  • Maintain accurate documentation and laboratory records
  • Assist with training and mentoring new team members and laboratory students

Qualifications
Education:
    • Bachelor degree in chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology degree from an accredited institution
  • OR
    • Qualify as Testing Personnel under Federal Register Sec 493.1489(b)(2) & General Supervisor under Federal Register Sec 493.1461

License(s)/Certification(s)
  • Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) certification through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
